As others have said, $$ too. Need to get rid of him in order to resign Backstrom and Semin, among others.
The money to resign Backstrom and Semin will be recouped when Theodore, Kozlov and Fedorov are all gone in the next 2 years.

Those three guys will free up $11M. Color me pessimistic, but I think it will take more than that to resign those 2.

(Flash will also be arbitration eligible RFA that year. He'll likely command a big raise.)

I'm guessing Clark (cap hit 2.6 2010-11, then UFA) will be dealt prior to that season.

the eleven million must only cover how much they make more than their current contracts, semin makes 4.6 and backstrom 2.4 so all in all they must not make more than 18M which is defintely going to be true

??? You're a Swede so you don't know about Martin Luther King? Or you're a Swede so you don't give a **** about him?

Either way it's a bit ridiculous. That's like saying, I'm from Scotland so I don't know anything about Nelson Mandela. C'mon.

This is the second injury for Varlamov isn't it? This would be why he is not in the NHL yet.

It came out wrong, of course I know who he is. I just didn't know that it was a MLK day. That's OT.

Islanders with great jump out of the gate, and the Caps seem like they think face-off is at 2:30.
