You say that as if it's a surprise. Greens defense is passable at the best of times

That was such a beautiful backhand pass by Ovechkin haha.

The Isle's announcers can't stop hyping us

Even though the Caps are up 1-0, they look mighty sluggish out there. It's like they are skating in quick sand at times. Theodore coming up big but also giving up huge juicy rebounds.

I've seen 4-5 caps games this season, and every time I'm amazed how bad he is in his own zone. Even when he manage to strip someone of the puck he makes a stupid play or just stands completely still with the puck.

It's funny how some people mention him regarding the Norris.

You caps fans who watch him regularely, is he top-10 offensively?

He's top five offensively, easily.

Defensively, he can be downright ugly sometimes. You just hope he is the catalyst for more goals for than goals against each night. In his defense, the answer is usually in the affirmative.

Mmm, nice that we're leading, but Theo bailed us out there several times. Need to tighten up and get at least one more early in the second.

Really? Playing on the pp:s availible to the caps you'd think he'd have more points.

He would've been amazing in the 70-80:s Coffey:esque

Didn't they say that Ovy was the best athlete in team sports?

Defensively he has a ways to go. Offensively, he is possibly the best in the NHL. Certainly will be the best in the next couple of seasons. Just look at the numbers.

He lead the NHL in goals from defense last season. This season he is closing in on the lead in goals and points after missing 10-12 games. Not many guys can spot the league 10 games and still win a scoring title.

He is clipping at a PPG pace over a full season that equates to 82 points. I won't complain with a60 some point year from Green

When was the last time there was a point per game defenseman in the NHL?

He's a point per game player, that's about as high as you'd expect a Dman to get nowadays... he's just been injured so his overall numbers don't necessarily stand out as much I guess.

Is Green top 10 offensively?

He's at least top 3, if not the best in the league.

Currently tied for 4th in scoring (10 less games). 33 pts in 34 games.

He leads all Caps defensemen in +/- (+16).

The difference between Green and guys like Erskine is that when Green gets turned around, more than often he's able to recover and make a play. His defensive game is underrated, IMO.

Theo looks sharp.

Get well soon, Mo. I've had enough of Helmer.

They need to quit the bad habits against lesser-talented teams. The first period had the feeling of them doing the bare minimum to win (besides Theodore).

1st in points per game by a dman
1st in goals per game by a dman

I don't think he's the best offensive dman in the NHL, but given his skillset and the Caps system, I think he's the most effective offensive dman in the nhl.

Helmer has been terrible. So has Green on the defensive side. The entire team doesn't look to good, except Theodore.

They better come out better in the 2nd.

He's been injured and missed 13 games. He has the highest points per game in the league by about 5 or 6 points.

He's still never dominant in the over all game, atleast not those games I've seen.

Where would he rank in the terms of over all defenceman.

Good enough to be top-20?

Green just had to learn the hard way to stay away from Chris Pronger.

Have you ever seen him play in OT? He's just a MONSTER 4 on 4.
