Blair Betts is the most unappreciated player of at least the last ten years for the rangers

and we should get rid of Blair Betts........

The guy doesn't need to score goal...he needs to prevent them.

being at the game was awesome, Betts had such a good game. I went to a Caps game in DC Saturday, you really appreciate how educated our fans our compared to other cities...in Washington no one would even notice a player like Betts on a night like tonight, the Rangers fans gave him a standing ovation when he blocked one shot with his stick and then another without it on the PP.

You said it. Watching Lundqvist and Callahan is a wonderful distraction from life's woe. Plus, what am I going to get angry about this week?

I'm going to watch the skills competition, though. I'll try to force myself to watch the actual All-Star game, too.

I was there, i'd say they cheered when he blocked a shot with his stick(that made it break) than got a standing Ovation for the stickless effort

Betts snipes empty nets!

He played fantastically, the guy has balls of steal. Its a pleasure to watch him play his heart out every night.

This thread is hilariously awesome.

I didn't expect Anisimov to dominate the AHL in his second year this quick. He's averaging over a point per game. I have no problem letting Anisimov break in on the fourth line where he isn't under a lot of pressure. I don't buy the fact that he would be better getting a lot of ice time in the AHL. That only applies if he has a lot more to learn. The best thing for his game is to now get NHL experience.

I also think a fourth line can be put together with Anisimov that is both good defensively and can chip in some offense and has size. Perhaps something like

Sjostrom-Anisimov-Voros

Betts is also completely useless physically. Every time he goes for a hit he misses the guy and hits the boards. It's really embarrassing.

Unfortunately for you, timing is everything in life

Trade him now while his value is high.

Listen, there's no doubt that he had a great game last night - and I heartily appreciated it. But in all seriousness, I'm not going to change my mind about the fact that he can be upgraded because he had the game of his season last night. Just like I'm not going to jump off the fire Renney bandwagon just because they won, because I still wasn't thrilled with the style of play. In my opinion, a good fourth line center is a 3rd line center in training, who will eventually challenge the incumbent for his job. Betts, unless we see many more games like last night's, has pretty much plateaued as a 4th line center - and therefore can be upgraded. (And if he's as good as many of you think, he's due for a big raise playing that role, which will force us to revisit this question.)

It's just my opinion and I realize that I'm in the vast minority, but hey - that's why we have message boards. They'd be a lot more boring if we all agreed.

There should be a subforum where threads like this go. Take a thread like this, lock it, and move it over for all to see and laugh at.

I have to second this. Jan Erixon rules. So does Blair, but Jan Erixon trumps Blair.

definitely Jan Erixon. I'm still not ready to watch Betts shadow top lines for 15-16 minutes per night, every night. He does it well on a spot basis, and that's what I'm comfortable with right now.

of course that was just one game, but then, how many games do you recall where betts was awful? true asx a 4th liner there ain't so much spotlight on him, but you can't deny that he is working his ass off every night.

and then, how do you want to upgrade him? playing some 7-8 minutes even strength time per night with the likes of orr, it will be hard to find anybody scoring more than 10 goals. especially if he has to be one of the lead penalty killers too...

Uh didn't we get him for Chris Simon in that firesale? I know we got Betts in a trade from Calgary.

I think that with Jagr gone, we had no more pre-lockout players on the team. The last one to leave before Jagr was Ortmeyer (Who was the senior Ranger on the team the last year he was here).
