No ... it doesn't look like it, at this point. But the court case is coming. Tuesday! It feels like it's taken forever to get here (because it has), but it will feel very good once this whole mess gets settled.

I have to give cred to the Falconer for finding this. The old Thrashers beat writer who has since moved on to bigger things, updated his blog at the sporting news recently with some interesting trade tidbits concerning the Thrashers.

Howdy,

Just trolling your forums trying to find your interest & views on Erik Christensen.

On a deadline deal, what you guys expecting in return?

Also, what deal do you see him getting since he is an RFA at years end?

I know he's having an off-year, but what do you think of his talent and potential? I have a dream of him playing with Cogliano (playmaking, super-fast center), and I love how his talents could compliment Cogliano's.

So thoughts? musings? looking for relatively intelligent posters.

Great in the shootout, exceptional..
Lacks in the finishing department at crunch time...Seems to lose the puck too often, and isnt as gritty as he should be..
I know you guys hate shremp out there, and probably want reasoner back...
What about a 2or3 +shremp for Christenson/Reasoner?

People who want Reasoner back unfortunately represent the idiocy of some Oilers fans (ok most).

The fact is that since December, our FO % has been on-pace with what it should be, we also have alot of center depth.

Our greater need right now is in a defensemen, maybe replace Reasoner with Schneider?

But basically if I get what you are saying, Christensen's value is a decent prospect and mid round draft pick?

Mm I think he's more in the case of "Needs a change of scenery" ..I'd say either a decent prospect or mid draft pick. He COULD turn out to be a decent 2nd line player, But he has some things he needs to fix. I dont know about other thrasher fans, but i'd go shremp straight up for Christenson, as i know he has fallen out of favor in Edmonton as well..much like Christenson has here.

Schneider alone will cost you guys a 2nd for sure..His experience in the playoffs and what he brings to a team(Even with his lackluster stats, which have looked way up since Bogo returned..example look how Good Bogo has been since he came back..unstoppable) And on a team with a better core in front of him will only improve things..and thats what you guys would be paying for.

If anything I'd go Ec/Schn for 2/6/Shremp personally. Ionno about anyone else here though

I like to see Robert Nilsson with Atlanta. It would be good to bring back the old nostalgia Atlanta Flames feeling to the thrashers franchise with the son of Kent.

Regardless he is also a decent prospect similarly to Christiansen that could thrive in a different environment.

Havelid is a tough one. He's such an underrated player around the league, and is quietly very effective. Atlanta needs him, but at his age, he doesn't really fit the timeline the rest of the Thrashers players. He should probably be moved at the deadline, but he'll need to be replaced in the offseason for sure.

Schneider is gone. Even at the deadline, he's still about a million and a half cap hit, so not everyone can add him. Guys like him are pretty valuable to playoff teams given the importance of special teams, and his reputation as well as playoff experience.

Reasoner is another one of those guys who could have some value to a playoff team. He does a lot of thankless work, and his contributions often go unnoticed by the casual fan, but there's a reason coaches love guys like this. Plus, he's a great lockerroom presence. He'll probably go at the deadline, but I wouldn't expect much of a return.

I'm going a little off topic here, but I've had an opportunity to see the Thrashers play a few times this year, and damn can that Bogosian kid play. It's a shame he's missed so many games this year. I found it funny when I read that he wears #4 because he was a Bobby Orr fan growing up. Was he even alive when Bobby Orr was playing?

Christensen for a decent prospect and a pick?

Abso-****ing-lutely.

This guy has no confidence in his game, can't hit a wide open net, and is a healthy scratch fairly often. We probably wouldn't even try to re-sign him so anything for him is good.

Bruins fan here, how about Kessel, Bergeron & Kobasew for your #1 on draft day?

Interesting how attitudes have cooled on him after having wathced him for the best part of a season. PIT fans pretty much said what we've been seeing. Head case, no confidence, great wrister, average stickhandler.

Unfortunately for us, nobody would give anything more than future considerations for Christensen. He's useless.

We need a true #1 center, and it's really sad to see what has happened to Bergeron. His injury problems are getting close to the point of completely derailing his career. If he could stay healthy and put up 50 points this season it would be a no-brainer for Atlanta...

Hmm...

Erik Christensen shootout attempt against Erik Ersberg with a Wristshot results in a GOAL.

I understand what you're getting at, but he's not completely useless. He probably just needs a change of scenery.

This is exactly what Pens fans said about him last season. DW took a chance on him, but the guy has been a complete non-factor in games. There really isn't room on a roster to carry a guy who is only a shoot out specialist.

I know this. Can't call him useless, though. That's all I'm saying.

I was optimistic about him, but it appears Atlanta is the wrong place for him.

At the same time though, I don't think EC is going to find an NHL team in a less stressful environment than Atlanta. I mean could you imagine what the press would do to him on one of the Canadian teams, or the Rangers, Wings, Bruins?

Maybe what he needs is a pressure environment.

His best scoring years were played in Kamloops, that is certainly not a low pressure environment.

You don't keep a guy on your team just to play in the shootout. Look at what happened with Nummelin in Minnesota. He was fantastic in the shootout, but is no longer in the NHL, because the rest of his game was weak.

Read my last post. First two words. Not sure why it's so hard for people to read the entire thread. It's not like the Thrashers section gets a lot of traffic or anything

DW is looking for young roster players rather than draft picks.

The day has arrived. Williams, Schneider, and Havelid are gone. Perrin has been waived.

Does anyone else go today or is the team silent?

My daring prediction? Kari gets dealt.

I saw somewhere that DW expect to make a "hockey trade" to make the team better by the end of the day.

So we should see something.

I expect Exelby to get dealt. The kid we got from the Devils seems like a logical replacement for him in the lineup, XLB plus mobility and offensive upside.
