I love Foppa too, but do you guys really wanna go down that road again? Do you not remember the "will he play, won't he play?" back and forth every single day he was here? Talk about distractions we don't need...

Foppa is one of my alltime favorites, but we're better off letting someone else adopt that animal.

My plan: Sign him, don't let him play until the playoffs. If he plays at all before then, it'll be conditioning on the Phantoms.

If we can afford him, I"m sorry, I'm taking him. He's more talented than either Sundin or Shanny if he holds together, a big IFFFFFFFFFF he holds together.

Oh, and I just cringe at the thought of Gagne and Foppa being back together

Forsberg in the AHL???

Are you joking? That's simply not going to happen. If Forsberg plays hockey in North America, it's in the NHL. Period.

Chemistry is more important than any of that. As great as he is, Forsberg is best left to mess with another teams' chemistry. We don't need the headaches.

Lay off the TB hate for a while, they've actually been doing a lot better lately.
You expect people to read stuff before posting? Silly you.

Unless there's an overpayment, the Lightning have no reason to move Ranger. He's the best defenseman on the team IMO and his salary is an absolute steal. Of course the Flyers are interested in him, like Patrick said any GM would want a guy like Ranger with his cap hit. With the lack of depth on the blueline, I highly doubt Ranger is moved.

Habs could probably do a Yannick Weber and Francis Bouillon swap for Paul Ranger, we badly need a D of his type

Watched Ranger for a number of years with the Oshawa Generals, he's a good D and underrated IMO.

The name on the back of the jersey doesn't matter. Players who are out of shape need to get back into game shape somehow; hence the reason such AHL assignments are called "conditioning assignments." Daniel Briere, an NHL all-star MVP two seasons ago, was recently assigned to the Phantoms for two games on a conditioning assignment, and I didn't see him complaining.

If he wants to play that badly, he'll do whatever he needs to do as a player and as a professional to get back into shape. I'd rather have him getting up to speed in the minors than missing half of the games in the NHL and being ineffective in the other half.

/end semi-off-topic rant

Ranger would be an awesome addition for the Flyers, and it would be a huge mistake for Tampa to give up on him. What could be going the other way?
last timee i checked teams rebuilding dont trade young talented players way

Why wasn't Sundin sent down? Shanahan?

Briere is on the LTIR, and was sent down to 'test' the groin before the Flyers had to make 3 roster moves to activate him. Big difference.

Shanahan doesn't have a history of serious injuries and health problems. As for Sundin, he probably could have benefitted from a conditioning assignment, as his .5 PPG and -3 in 6 games indicate. Anyone who has watched a Canucks game since he started playing will tell you that he looks sluggish, tired, and out of shape (that's my opinion, anyway -- he hasn't been impressive). But that's besides the point...

It seems to me that wanting Forsberg, who has missed training camp and has a significant history of debilitating injuries and foot problems, to go through the motions in an AHL conditioning assignment would make a ton of sense. What is your reasoning against sending a player who hasn't played competitive hockey at a completely healthy level in over two seasons to the minors on a conditioning assignment, besides "OMG IT'S FOPPA HE CAN'T PLAY AHL!111!11"

So whose line does Forsberg go on and who gets stuck on the Fourth line without pissing someone off? Knuble since he may be gone next year. So if its a winger you bring Powe back up and you will be limited to One Enforcer and a Lightweight Asham but a tought one, if we end up in a physical seires could really hurt us. so what you call up another tough guy and now who do you sit.

Knuble Upshall i feel are the only two players you can push down to the 4th line and Upshall needs to be on the third line for his speed and energy and i guess Knuble mainly gets PP time and thats it then??

Another thing to know is the Lightning have enough D prospects and I don't see how Weber is an improvement over guys like Smaby, Wishart, Mihalik, or Quick. Ranger is a top pairing defenseman on the Lightning who can be effective playing 25 minutes a night with a dirt cheap contract. It would take more than an average d-man and a decent prospect to get Ranger.
