GDT 2: Sharks Vs Luongo

1030 posts. Wow! And now it's closed. I just got home and wanted to get some good GDT stuff. So I got part 2 for us here. Come tell me what you thought about that game last night. I was there and sat right behind Luongo for 2 periods in the best seats I've sat in. Man he made some saves. And I got to see the two beauty goals to pull this one out. It was kinda rough for the first 58 minutes, but man, what a game!

O.T. Not sure if this was mentioned in the GDT but when Obama was put on the screen at the end of the national anthem, the crowd went nuts.

That is pure awesome.

And I just realized that in the 3 games against the Canucks this year Marleau has 4g+4a for 8pts... plus 2 GWG. ownage

Also, thank God for 4-4 OT hockey. The trap just isn't the same then. Canucks fans had to be prayin' for a shootout at that point.

Purdy: Bullish on the Lemieux experiment
Quote:
Tuesday, in his first NHL game since 2003, Lemieux was solid. That's one of the finest compliments you can pay a professional athlete — although his 12-year-old son, Brendan, was in attendance for the game and had a far more subjective view.

"He played awesome," Brendan said in the Sharks' dressing room, gently squeezing the tips of his father's left fingers as the two sat side by side

Monday at 7:30 - They called it a classic game (I am not disagreeing).

Refs notes:

Kudos to Joannette for not freezing the play around the crease. He was in the right spot to not freeze it. On the series of pick plays in the Sharks zone leading up to the final PP, St. Laurent was zone ref. It looked like Joannette finally decided enough was enough. Not all refs call picks. Fratz or Furlatt would have hung the Nucks out to dry far earlier in their cycle. Both of them call offensive picks.

Did anyone get the comcast feed of Seto's goal on youtube so you can watch Joe go and taunt Kesler? It's brilliant.

Interesting... you can clearly hear Estelle's "American Boy" in the background of Boyle's and Marleau's interviews. I wonder who selected that gem?

You can see him do it on the NHL highlight from the TSN feed.

I was there and man was that was a BORING game until the last 5 or so minutes. CL looked great. I would much rather have him up than Staubitz, McGinn or Kasper. No offense to those guys but the experience he brings and knowing when to step it up is invaluable. I like Staubitz but he took 4 stupid roughing penalties the last couple of games that almost cost us. CL looked really good and as the Todd stated was very solid. The Tank went nuts when he stepped onto the ice for the first time during the game. I am guessing we would call him up during the play offs just to have him in there if Shelley, Goc or Plihal need a night off.

Yeah, I know but on the comacast feed they show Joe for a lot longer. He puts his hands out and gives Kesler a look, then his crotch as if to say suck it.

NHL on demand, the game is available on TSN (I didn't know they had this feature)

Canucks @ Sharks

also, TSN highlights, includes JT taunt and postgame scrum

Alright so I was listening to NHL Home Ice on Sirius/XM and I forgot who said it but on of the guys there was talking about how Vancouver should have been fined for the type of play they displayed. He was saying it was a 1-4 and sometimes 0-5 trap. He literally said he felt sorry for the Sharks fans that went to the game and felt that the Canucks owe them an apology! Also, that he was glad they ended up losing and they shouldn't have even received that one point with the horrible display of hockey.
