News And Notes
Quote:
First off, Ville Peltonen was back on the ice today, although PDeB says he's probably doubtful for tomorrow. The Panthers liked what they saw from last night's lineup and may not be willing to change things up just to rush Ville back into the lineup.

Finnishlion ''I don't think he's ready,'' PDeB said. ''He has the heart of a lion. Pound for pound, he's as tough a hockey player I've ever coached. He just keeps coming at you. He takes hits, he's fearless in tough areas. You look at his size, he's playing against 220 pound defensemen on any given night. He's got a lot of respect from the people on the coaching staff and his teammates.''

Also, Nick Boynton was back after fighting the flu yesterday. He should be back in the lineup, although Noah Welch played well last night and could have put up a case to keep playing. It's a numbers game right now.
Sun-Sentinel: Sabres beat Panthers in shootout
Miami Herald: Florida Panthers
George Richards' Blog, Your Source For Reliable, Early Panthers Info!

Red Hot Cat Of The Night David Booth, with 16 points in his last 11 games, leads the team in points, goals, and powerplay goals.

Primary Target
Brad Richards, the former Lightning and winner of the Conn Smythe has since relocated to the state of Texas. He has successfully traded being in a 12th place team for...um being in a 12th place team. But leading his team in points now, he at least doesn't have to deal with the shenanigans of Tampa's front office. He only had to worry about Sean Avery earlier this year. Hmm, I'm not really sure which is better.

LET'S GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!

Easy win Panthers.

Pelts is a real warrior. I remember some discussion about his toughness here some time ago - so who claims being right then?

LOL sorry, but I mean we're heading into the all star break and we're playing the stars, weird right? Plus you can't embed real music videos, not official ones anyway, sorry

3-2 Stars, for some reason that shootout isn't sitting well with me. I have a feeling we will take this team softly and come out flat.

I think this team is believing they can play with anyone in the league finally. This is a game that won't be easy (what game in the NHL is?) but they should come up with 2 points if they play their game (speed, hard forecheck, everyone engaged).

WIN TONIGHT!!!!!!

Bouw will be in the fastest skater competition at the all star skills competition. Would have really liked to have seen Booth compete in that. He might have some of the best top end speed in the league.

Agreed about what was said about Booth. Man, that guy has some impressive jets on him, doesn't he? Jason Blake of the Leafs was supposed to have all sorts of speed, but I didn't see it much.

And speaking of speed, how did Norton make that move in the last game to blow by the defender and tap the puck over to Stillman last game? He was wayyyyy behind--so that was pretty impressive. I get the feeling we might see him show up big tonight.

I hope someone from Dallas hits him real hard early. That always seems to do it.

When Horton full on sprints, he's one of our faster players. I can only recall three times off the top of my head he's done it, but I remember being impressed each time. Not saying he's floating or anything just that I only remember seeing that extra level a few times.

Horton has improved lately quite nicely.
We got enough talent to win this game, we have to score early and first.

Pittsburgh has some injuries, but every team does, and yeah they aren't playing well right now. Losing Hossa and Malone really hurt them, and even though they didn't have Hossa last season for the most part, they did have Gonchar. I just don't see the same Pittsburgh team anymore. The Canes also don't look that strong. Ward can have really great games, and then can let in some really soft goals, sometimes mulitple ones in a game. And their defense can still be really bad on a given night. During their recent 5 game losing streak, they let in 23 goals. Yikes.

Like I said before, if we keep doing what we're doing, we'll make it.

There is no hope of victory tonight.

*** Didn't have time to post after the last game, but that was Booth's best game in a Panthers sweater. In fact, that may have been the most impressive performance from a Florida forward that I have seen since that Russian guy who wore #10. I was a lot more optimistic about Booth's upside than many around here, but he has exceeded my expectations. Heck of a game from him.

Same, I've always defended Booth when people were saying he tapped out.. and had grinders hands

yeah, ok. Hes done some nice snipes and good moves to prove hes better than what people pegged him at, and good for him.
