Anybody watching this game on MSG? Man those two announcers are like chatty cathy dolls. They go on and on and on and on and on and on and on . . . . to infinity

I think it is obvious that Brodeur was not the reason for the success. New jersey is a system team and as evidenced by the success of a jobber this season you can literally plug anybody into the net and have a winning team.

Losing here would drop our road record to a pedestrian 12-9-2. We're starting to suck 5-on-5, rely on PPs for goals and lose on the road only scoring 1 or 2 goals. And the young guys have been the best thing about the team lately. Yep, this is reminding me too much of 06-07. When will Carbo learn? And when will Gainey put together a team built for playoff success?

That would be a valid assumption (I say assumption because it's clear that you haven't watched the Devils this season) if we were playing the same system as we did the last few years. We used to send one guy to pressure with 4 guys clogging the neutral zone, obviously. But nowadays, at least until the end of the game when we're holding onto leads, we typically have at least 2 players forechecking hard with a 3rd in the high slot breaking up passes before they can leave the zone.

Yea and your habs are losing so it's making them 100x more annoying. They need to turn it around in the 3rd. My all-time favorite announcing is these 2 asshats when the devils are losing, they just get all quiet and cry.

We had Devil killer Smolinski and Higgins for that one (he's had good success in his career vs. the Devils). And we were on a tear at the time, moreso than now. It was also a game heading into the all-star break. It sure would be something if we won here in the same fashion but I doubt it's happening. We're in a slight funk and NJ is on a roll. This will take a mountain to climb but I said it before the game, getting to OT is good enough (although we've managed to drop several games in OT to the Devils over the years).
