Yeah but I don't think he's the type who can remain inactive for very long. If you love sports, I don't know how anyone can, really.

I've been inactive now for 6 weeks because of an Achilles' tendon strain and it's killing me.

Crosby is the face of the NHL. Reguardless if he plays or not he should atleast take the opening faceoff and shift and then sit he needs to particapate as much as he can, even if it is just standing or sitting there...He has to show up.

He's showing up and making appearances at the festivities. That's good enough for me. He needs the break.

Also, ta Mommes, if we're being French-o-rific about it, etc.

The three greatest things about Montreal are poutine, strip clubs, and leaving.

If he is showing up, he probably should suit up. I don't see how much rest his knee is going to get, but whatever.

The actual three greatest things about Montreal are the downtown scene, the lack of crime in said downtown area and the European feel. Oh, and watching a game at the Bell Centre is also right up there in terms of Montreal highlights. It's quite a rush. And in the playoffs, it's just like being injected with adrenaline.

If you want the best poutine, you have to drive up to Drummondville, Quebec. It was invented there. When I went there to watch Sidney play at age 16 a few years back, I almost forgot about why I was there after sampling their poutine.

Not worth it's own thread, but here is Ovie's personal all-star game lineup.

Ovie-Backstrom-Crosby
Markov-Chara
Brodeur

Looks like your boy is going to MTL after all

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=2643...=topStory_main

"Pittsburgh has no intention of testing NHL commissioner Gary Bettman's threat to suspend those who choose not show in Montreal for this weekends All-Star festivities.

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is en route to Montreal and will arrive early this afternoon to fully participate in all off-ice All-Star activities.

The NHL says it will enforce an understanding that all players who decline to show after being named to the All-Star teams must miss at least one game before or one game after the All-Star weekend.

If so, Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom may be forced to sit the Red Wings next game if they don't immediately change their All-Star break plans and report to Montreal."

His plan was always to go to the ASG and take part in the off-ice activities.

Backstrom over Malkin? Guess that feud is still simmering.

Well, I was at the All-Star Jamboree this evening but no sign of Sid...

I did get a chance to see Guy Lafleur, Pat Lafontaine and Lucky Luc Robitaille, though. Always a treat.

By the way, the Pens are well represented this weekend. I was one of many sporting Pens jerseys.

Probably the second-best represented team, at least at the jamboree. Coolest thing about the jamboree, literally, is a street perpendicular to the Bell Centre that features a jersey of every NHL team within a huge block of ice. I don't mean all 30 teams in one block of ice, I mean a real NHL team jersey inside a block of ice, and there are 30 of these ice blocks along the street. I have a feeling somebody is going to steal the Pens jersey before the end of the weekend. I better have an alibi.

Did anybody catch the Sid interview on CBC during the skills competition? I saw a TV monitor at the Bell Centre at the time it was going on but I couldn't read lips it was too far.
