can't believe they can't get the production figured out. missing skaters, shots, panning away, choosing bad angles. really it's pathetic. if i were a casual viewer i would've thought the thing was shot by third graders with handi-cams.
Seriously, I was getting so pissed off at VS. The youngstars game had to be the worst. There would be a breakout starting, and they would cut over it with a replay of someone whiffing on a shot at the other end. Add to that how terrible the commentators are, and it was just cheezy all around...

no all-star game next year.

Interesting to see Nate Ewell helped pull it off. Also weird to see his name on ESPN.com.

I think that had to do with Ovechkin wanting to shoot left-handed. Malkin is a lefty so Ovie used his stick to score.

He's awesome.

I loved that one point where there was literally a 45+ second shot of Marc Staal sitting on the bench, during which a goal or two were scored.

With a really really long stick and shooting the puck from the Zamboni.

He can use Chara's! Maybe even have him give him a boost up into the Zam.

how about he runs into the lockerroom, changes into his gym shorts, comes back out in a pair of crocs, and then dekes out the goalie.

I guess he could also do the Dwight Howard Super Man shirt thing.

hmm, he could sit on Chara's shoulders or dive through his legs.

I've thought someone should sit on their behind and paddle down with the stick like a boat.

Vincent Lecavalier looks like he's carrying a ton of bricks on his shoulders these days.

Savard would make a great Capital. He and Ovechkin look good together...

this might be blasphemous but i would take Savard over Backstrom on my team, i just like his style of play better than Nick's.

I agree. Savard has a chip on his shoulder as well. A little more feisty. We could probably have Savard cheaper than Backis when he becomes a RFA.

i meant it in a perfect world situation ie: same age, same contracts; that sort of thing.

obviously Backstrom has time to develop his craft and most likely will but in a right here right now context i like Savard.

Savard is a reliable 90-95 points, and Backstrom isn't there yet. One player is in his prime and the other still getting there. Yet Savard took a long, long time to reach his peak, and as a result his peak will be fairly short. Backstrom is going to have 10-15 really strong years.

Kovalev is the guy with something to prove and a chip on his shoulder tonight. Lots of people don't think he should be there. I think he'd love to take home MVP honors.

Hey, morons... when the siren is going and the music blaring, stop trying to talk to the mic'ed up player. How hard is that to understand?

I think it only works well for goalies. The players trying to concentrate on a play and hearing the history of montreal in their ears has to be annoying. And its hard to really ask the skaters anything interesting. At least the goalies can sit back and chat while the play is in the other end.

Marty seemed frustrated with it. Savard seemed to enjoy it but he got used to it last night I think.

I have to admit that I enjoyed the overtime period. Meaningless or no, most of these guys are bred competitors.

Ovy wins it in the shootout.

That was an entertaining game.

Thomas or Kovalev for MVP. Hell, maybe AO for sentiment's sake.
