Tavares will love it when the sewers explode and cover his locker with **** and piss. I'm sure he's stoked to go to the Island!

The only flaw with this is signing Mez to a brutal contract right after trading Boyle. If Boyle was kept (and he could have been) you guys would be better off than you are today.

Just as a whole, be it rearing Stamkos too early or signing all those insane contracts, the new management has yet to find a firm grip on the ropes of this franchise, and this trade was basically the start of that.
Meszaros is $4 million for 6 years, which is actually pretty good imo
i hold the season pass for the leafs and im very much dissapointed in my investment.. even tho i've sold most of my seats coz i didnt want to c the leafs play.. i also hold next year season seat and i hope to be at every game but leafs really need to bring in couple of top line stars..to represent the leafs
didnt read the article, but let me guess what one of the lines was
"reliable sources has told slapshots that Steve Stamkos may be on the way out of Tampa Bay"
I have read quite a bit of his garbage in the NY Post for years now.
If Tampa was going to trade him, wouldn't it have been much smarter to trade the pick at the draft last year? I'm sure they could've gotten a windfall for it. Trading him now when his value is probably at it's lowest in his short career doesn't make much sense.
On the one hand, it's Tampa, so there are fewer and fewer things that they could do that would surprise anybody, but on the other hand, the organization has also made it possible for a writer to report absolutely anything he wants and he's off the hook as far as credibility because, hey, it's crazy-ass Tampa, so anything can happen.
If you don't mind me asking.. Why didn't he just sign a deal like that to stay in Ottawa? Was it Ottawa not willing to pay 4mil?
Mez wanted too much money, and didn't like it when he was told he would be paired with Jason Smith. He was holding out for more money. After the last 2 seasons with Ottawa, he just didn't deserve more money than Phillips or Volchenkov. Also, after his rookie season, his play (especially his defensive play) took a major dip. Murray was quoted as saying he stopped at 3.5mil/season and wouldn't offer more. Mez was probably looking at Weber's contract (4.5mil/season) as a comparison point, but Mezsaros is no Weber.

Murray wanted to sign him to a middle contract before getting his big pay day. Mez thought he deserved more. Basically wanted to be paid for potential.
I wouldn't mind having Mez back but not for 4mill/season right now.
Besides, Kuba and Picard have both been playing better offensively and defensively than Mezsaros has in the past 2 seasons.
