TRADE ALERT: Piros for Rossiter

Atlanta trades Kamil Piros to the Florida Panthers for Kyle Rossiter.

Let us all bask in the gloriousness of GM Don Waddell as he yet again makes a fool of his good friend Rick Dudley

Rossiter looks to be a defensive defenseman, good size at 6'3" 220.

Might be a preclude to another deal, might just be a pure depth move as we have a couple of Gladiators playing with the Wolves right now.

I think it is just a pure depth move made for Chicago Wolves. Considering the depth we have on D, I doubt whether he will ever crack Atlanta's top 6. Also I the majority of comments i have read on Rossiter from Florida fans aren't very good, so basically i think Florida wins on this trade. I think we could of got something more for Piros.

What was Piros's contract status? Perhaps DW decided he wasn't going to resign him anyway.

I believe Piros is the last remaining part of the famed Audette deal.

He was on a one-year this year. Yes he was in the Audette trade.

I'm in Iowa.

I will be interviewing some 2004 eligible guy from the USHL tomorrow night though.

The Charles Kurralt of hockey.

Beware of psychotic children living in cornfields with no adult supervision. I understand it is a rampant problem in Iowa.

Panther fan here...Rossiter is worse than awful....so bad at times he was a healthy scratch in San Antonio, so I don't know how Waddell made a fool of Dudley with this one.

I don't expect much from Piros either, so it's strictly an AHL trade IMO.

I dug out his profile off the Florida page, a bit outdated but here it is FWIW.

TSN's profile of Rossiter is more accurate (though from before this yrs training camp): http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/player_b...67&hubname=ATL

I can only comment on his callups to Florida but he didn't look like he'll be much of an NHL d-man. At best, he's a 5th/6th d-man in the NHL. His decision making isn't all that great, he's physical but I don't think sound positionally, and is prone to speedsters moving around him. FL wins this even if Piros centers the 4th line because he'd at least be worth the roster spot (which is possible for next yr).
