RUMOR: Stamkos on block ALREADY!!!!

http://www.nypost.com/seven/01252009...927.htm?page=2

Tampa Bay management can deny, deny, deny in the best tradition of all sorts of scoundrels, but it is most certainly true that 2008 first-overall draft pick Steven Stamkos is available for trade, at least according to two franchises that have been in contact with the Lightning and have no reason to fib about it.

If this is true, then this franchise is done. Ruined by two of the most stupid owners ever.

It actually took longer for this thread to happen than I thought it would. Of course it must be true because Brooks says so

He may be all knowing, but until Cory Murphy says so I don't believe it.

My only comment on all of this, having followed the NY area teams quite closely for years, and reading Larry Brooks on a daily basis for a long time: I have more respect for Eklund's predictions than I do for Brooks. At least Eklund doesn't try and hide the sheer lunacy of his predictions.

I have no idea whether Stamkos is available (although I seriously doubt it) but if you believe anything Brooks writes, then please PM me. Some nice Nigerian businessmen and I have a deal we'd like to propose to you.

Larry Brooks had Alex Ovechkin playing in NY this season before his contract was announced. He is the closest think we have in the USA to Canadian media rumor mongers.

There is no way the Bolts trade Lecavalier AND Stamkos.

I think this is why all these Lightning rumors are floating around:

Lawton is doing a bad job in keeping his business practices secret. I'm pretty sure every GM talks to each other throughout the year about trading, player availability, returns, etc...whether the discussions are serious or not, they happen. But for some reason all of Lawton's discussions are becoming public.

He is doing a horrible job keeping team business out of the media. These are the mistakes of a rookie GM.

I'm sure the Gm's in Washington and Pittsburgh have talked to other GM's about Crosby and Ovechkhin. That doesn't mean that they would ever trade them, but I'm sure that their names have been mentioned in passing. They are just able to keep the conversations private and not let the media get a hold of it and spin it out of control.

Brooks is a little more legit version of Eklund. A little more.

Stamkos is only getting traded if someone gives up their whole house, which nobody is going to do. Not happening.

Jay Feaster, of all people, wrote a very apropos blog post for THN about how trade rumors get started: http://www.thehockeynews.com/article...ors-begin.html

We don't know for sure where these leaks are coming from. Blaw's wheeling and dealing is notable and it's possibly getting out through other teams.

IF the current ownership is shopping Stamp

the NHL should step in and find new owners before this ownership group screws up the only city that has shown solid support for a team since the southern expantion happened(FYI--I lived in Ft Lauderdale for two years and I was shocked how many people did not realize they had a team)

Doesn't everyone realize how much better Stammy has been the past few weeks? I'm not talking about his 8 pts in 12 games, he seems to be playing better. He's not rushing with the puck as much, doesn't look as nervous and seems to be in the right place at the right time more often now. I remember how miserable Vinny's rookie season was, but look at the guy now. Ditto for Joe Thornton. It's insane how quickly people give up on an 18 year old based on 30 or 40 games. That just goes to show how poorly some people comprehend the game of hockey.

Stamkos is going nowhere. He is going to be a great player...just give him time to mature.

Thats because people on this board have a "what have you done for me lately" mentality. Just like Marleau is better than St. Louis. Or Carter is a better goal scorer than Lecavalier. Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah....

People always have something stupid to say.

Watching Stammer is kind of like watching a calf. You see some muscle, you see the thing getting on its feet and starting to move around but just isn't quite there yet. He's gonna be just fine.
