I really dont think any Rangers should be in the All Star Game

but Alex Kovalev is a starter?

he has like 9 goals and has been the invisible man for at least half his ice time

Thats gets a start in the All Star Game???

Ovechkin has 27 goals and he gets the honor of backing up Kovalev?

For that matter, Jeff Carter, Zach Parise... ?

Ppffff

Who cares, it's an all-star game and in every sport it's never fair. The NHL's all-star game is actually better than Football and even Baseball IMO. IDK about the NBA, don't watch it enough to know.

Starters are picked by the fans. Montreal fans stuffed the ballots, what can you do?

Too bad they have the stupid one-player-per-team rule, or we could have been resting up and let the pens/habs play the hawks/ducks. Ratings would probably be about the same for this nonsense.

I initially thought the rule was stupid but in a lot of cases it helps get players on the teams that deserved it but may have not made it. Other situations where there's a team that has no deserving candidates or have a deserving candidate but the position he plays is all filled up, it messes it up, but the first scenario seems to happen more often.

The thing is, it's not like starters get more ice time in an all-star game. They just get to start the game, not a huge deal IMO. Price gets a period just like the other 2 goalies, and they just roll 4 lines all game.

Maybe Carter is in the All Star game because he has 30 goals and 51 points... 12th in the NHL in scoring?

And maybe Parise is in the All Star game because he has 28 goals and 55 points... 7th in the NHL in scoring?

Maybe you should have better reading comprehension?

He clearly praised those players, and the point was that there are multiple wingers having better years than Kovalev, yet he is a starter.

Jump to conclusions mat.

I read it as digs against Parise and Carter as well. It's totally unclear and can be read either way. I'm surprised Elias or Krejci did not get the nod ahead of St. Louis. Can it French Canadian love though. They are giving the city what they want. And Kovalev? He may have less than stellar stats but I think the MVP vindicates him.

I personally thought Thomas should have won it but you really cant go wrong either way.

Thomas was the only goalie who gave half a crap in that game, just because he makes two great stops, doesn't mean he is the MVP. Kovalev or Ovie would have been fine.

If you looked at the goalies, they all looked like they were nailed down, no lateral movement. Like i said other, then Thomas. But he was just floppin around anyway to give the fans a show.

And i don't think he disagrees with you. That was the whole point. He was mocking the fact that Ovechkin, Carter and Parise are back ups to Kovalev. He was actually saying that Parise < Kovalev is a joke and was complimenting your player.

All Star Game Sucks. The League should seriously only put like 10 players on each conf list for next season to vote on. All Stars, no write ins. Let the GM's pick a few, the coaches a few, commish 2 and the players two...

Thomas would have never won unless he had a shutout. Even in the case of Savard, he also had 3 points, but he wasn't even considered. A Bruin or Leaf would have never won the MVP even if they had the same amount of points as Kovalev. However that said, Kovy had 2 goals, an assist, and the deciding goal in the shootout, so he deserved it, especially at home, you couldn't expect anything else.

lol just to be clear

I feel Ovechkin, Parise, Carter etc were more worthy than Kovalev by a HUUUUUUUUUGE margin to be starters in the All Star game.

On performance alone Parise > Kovalev.

Unfortunately he's a Devil and they don't have enough fans to vote any of their player in.
