Saw it coming after we dominated the first. There's no way this team could keep it up for two periods in a row.

O'Byrne with a lot more confidence and patience with the puck good to see.
Fourth line needs more shifts, no one else is getting it done.

Smith needs to back up. He's getting a bit too pushy out there...he will soon become fair game and players will "accidentally" run him over.

What the heck was that?

Brunet: "Il est temps que les défenseurs aillent aider leurs coéquipiers.."

Houde: "Est-ce qu'ils ont le droit?"...

Brunet "Ben oui, ils ont le droit défendre leurs coéquipiers"....

What I hate, besides the obvious criticisms we all know and love, is that our road game has gone severely down hill. We're approaching .500 for the road and that's one area where we've declined from last year.

If we can't beat the "easy" teams it doesn't mean we can't beat good teams, but it means our focus over a 7-game series and mental, as well as physical, fortitude is just not good enough at all. We're a flawed tesm, whether or not we finish 4th or 5th. But damn, I hope Gainey can see what we're missing right now. It's becoming plain to see for us fans I suppose. Oh wait, 2-1. They telepathically listened to my worries.
Like what previous years?

Last year they surged to 1st overall in the 2nd half.

Other than that win in New York we've been abysmal on the road this new year (4-1 loss @NJ, 3-1 loss @BOS, 5-4 SO win @OTT after blowing lead, 4-2 loss to Atlanta, 5-2 loss to Devils again and this game ain't knocking anyone's socks off). Price came back and we look the same. With Halak we needed 4 GPG to win and now that he's on the pine again, we are playing like Price will stop everything. He's a bit rusty right now, and we're seeing just how lame this team can look when Carey isn't a wall. It's not really encouraging, from a team standpoint, that Price has probably singlehandedly given us 5-10 more pts. this year.

He was probably thinking pass as well. Might not be an excuse as he should play the shot but Bouillon lost Lecavalier and it was a 3 on 1 from the circles in.

05-06 and 06-07 they were notoriously bad, especially on the road, in January-February. Last year was the first good January since 2003-04, which had been the only good January of the decade (1999-2000 don't count). Anyway, a surge up the standings won't be nearly as easy this time out, IMO.

A few empty seats in TB...should be no problem for Lawton to absorb Vinnie's boat anchor contract

What surge? We aren't finishing higher than our current fourth.
