Why the Blues should nab him.

McDonald is coming back from injury yes, but we no longer have Kariya the rest of the season. So bringing in Fritsche would be able to ship Winchester to the AHL. Not worry about having Steen center any line (he's been god awful it seems in the faceoff circle) Add another player who drives to the net, with a pretty good set of hands.

If he makes it to St. Louis, I don't see why we'd pass him up. He'll be RFA at the end of the year and then we can sign him to a decent contract.

Fritsche is someone you don't want on your team. Extremely unbalanced at all times on that ice, very wobbly in his skates. Many horrid descisions with the puck leading to many giveaways. Not a smart player.

I just dont see how he would fit. He sounds like another Crombeen, with a little more skill. But where does a player like that fit into our lineup?

Oshie-Berglund-Perron
Boyes-Backes-Tkachuk
Crombeen-McClement-Winchester
Hinote-Steen- Janssen

I understand you want to get move Winchester down, but he has actually played decent, plus you will still need to open another spot to fit McDonald back in once he is ready. Can't send Crombeen down without him clearing waivers, and Dallas would surely take him back. Hinote will probably be shopped in a trade, but the Blues probably wouldnt waive him to make room for Fritche. Where does he fit?

He's fast when he wants to and I noticed that every time he takes a shot he either falls or gets knocked off the puck/his skates.

People complain about Prucha losing the puck, but in reality, Prucha has great puck control and creates PP opportunities with his hard work along the boards.

CBJ should take him back. It might help with some of the wounds of getting bent in the Zherdev deal.

That roster is nasty. Really nasty.

Well the bottom six at least. Our line up could look like this.

Perron-Berglund-Oshie
Tkachuk-Backes-Boyes
Steen-Fritsche-Crombeen
Hinote-McClement-Janssen

When McDonald returns, you move Steen to RW and you're line up looks like this.

Perron-Berglund-Oshie
Backes-McDonald-Boyes
Tkachuk-Fritsche-Steen
Crombeen-McClement-Janssen/Hinote

I'd much rather have the two lineups I listed than the one you listed.

with a healthy Kariya...that's a nice top 9. I am a bit biased as I have Berglund and Oshie in a keeper pool. I tanked this year and rebuilt with a ton of kids. I also have Hulder, Ryan, Giroux, Krejci, Voracek, Okposo, Boedker, both Kostitsyns, JVR and Lucic. Not too bad since we only have 30 guys to a team. Can't wait for 2-4 years from now!!

Teams don't claim young players based on potential, only if they need to fill a hole.

He's not really either. He just kind of sucks.

He's absolutely useless, IMO.

I think he'll be claimed. He can still be a pretty good bottom 6 player in this league.

Probably 50/50 on whether he's claimed or not. He certainly needs a change of scenery/kick in the ass. This move may provide both of them.

Isn't Fritsche eligible to become a UFA after one more season? If so, that could explain why he had no trade value.

Wounds? What wounds were those? I think it was a good trade for both teams. It will shift Columbus' way when Zherdev gets moved in the off season because the Rags won't be able to afford him.

Which is why Zherdev has already openly stated that he doesn't want to play for any other team but New York and the organization has already started working on his contract before any of our many other FA's this upcoming offseason?

I saw Fritsche play in Sarnia...he was no star at all. he had one "good" yeah with 70-something points. He's a primadonna who whines and *****es...he played sick until he got traded to London from Sarnia, then was SUDDENLY miraculously cured the day after(granted Sarnia's team that year sucked) and went to win a Mem Cup...screw him

The Jackets have absolutely no use for Fritsche.

Like his effort level. He's in a log jam now but should thrive with ice time and a good situation.

He should be picked up. Toronto is a good fit. They're going for the team that's hard to play against. He definitely fits that philosophy.

Fritsche only makes sense for the Blues if they believe TJ Oshie is ready for a top six winger role, and frankly, I like Osh a lot better centering Backes and Steen once everyone is healthy.
