Dubinsky is the only center in the top 20.

Not really surprised with the bottom 25. All of them are pretty soft

Kovalchuk could be potentially nightmare defensively if he came here. He'll scores lot of goals, but he doesn't backcheck at all

No recognition for Captain Intangible, Chris Drury?

It's a list of regular backchecking, not clutch backchecking.

True, but Zherdev plays a different game than he did for the Jackets (for the most part). People can change with the teams.

TSN's formula was based on hits, takeaways, giveaways, faceoffs, and blocked shots.

Cally, Dubi, Girardi, Staal are among the league leaders in hits, while Rozy is near the top of the league for blocked shots.

Betts is in the middle of the pack for hits & blocked shots and has a faceoff percentage of 46% so I'm assuming that's why he wasn't on the list.

What's curious is that faceoffs are in the formula, but, the top 20 is comprised mainly of D-man, and Dubinsky is the only center.

As much as I love the recognition for Cally, Dubinsky, and Girardi, I can't help but wonder how much of this is because of the Rangers' ridiculously skewed hit totals.
