Murray is the Most Underrated Fighter

First have to give it to the guy taking off his helmet every time before beating up whoever he throws down with, very classy. But, he never loses he always wins and other teams fighters are afraid to throw down with the guy so I always appreciated when other guys fight him but, nobody seems to know who he is or get any credit because he really is one of the best.

He's far from underrated among players, they are so afraid of him that they usually don't dare scrap with him. That's why this was only his 2nd fight of the season.

He's very very strong which helps him against middle of the road fighters, but he'd get handled by top heavies.

Yeah, both of ya'll is right. After Murray hits, peeps just don't dare to challenge him. He's like that Hulk mann, for real. He certainly has ate what his mama's been offering.....

And many other players who hit hard, get challenged after the hit. In fact there's very often A FIGHT in the NHL, if a player gets hit hard, almost EVERYTIME. I found that pretty funny.

Murray was jawing a bit out there tonight at one point, but he ended up laughing at the other dude, no doubt because he knew the guy wouldn't fight him, just like everyone else.

I think thats mostly because fighting isnt something he works on,he just isnt afraid to do it, give the guy some classes and I am sure he would be able to handle his own out there

I have to agree with this for the most part. Eric Godard handled and beat Murray twice last year. He also lost to a few middleweights last year as well.

With that being said, I would guess that if Murray was the teams designated fighter he would work on his craft a bit more. BUT that his not his job, he is paid to play a regular D shift and hit which is much more important. Still it is nice that he can step up when needed.

Let Shelley handle the goon work during the regular season.

Yeah I agree, the more we goon up Murray the less effective of a D man he may become. I'm more than content to watch people bounce off him when they think they can check Douggie

Agree with what's been said. Murray's strength really gives him the advantage to at least get a draw, if not win, most fights. But since he grew up in Europe and played collegiate hockey, he never really developed the skills to be a true fighter and you can see that in the way he "struggles" offensively in some fights. I just hope he keeps doing what he's doing, and lets Shelley handle the real heavyweights.
