Peverley On Waivers

The Tennesean is reporting that Rich Peverley has been placed on waivers.

Takers? Any takers?

We'll be happy to have him in Milwaukee. He'll be grumpy about it, but we'll take it.

Who's we? I rather take the pathetic play we had last night than see that guy put on an Ads jersey again.

He'll just suck and pout like he did when he got sent back down mid-season last year.

(Praying someone's stupid enough to pick him up on waivers)

Cue the Blue Jackets...

The jackets are in a BAAAD way right now and desperate for centers. Is he that bad?

???? Don't know what that is, but I am going to guess it isn't good. What is Peverly's deal?

The choice here is between getting Rich Peverley back in Milwaukee, or continuing to play Mark Santorelli and Ian McKenzie.

We'll take Peverley.

Ah, so he is soft? Anytime I watched him I noticed that he has good speed. Any skill to speak of?

Good call by some of you. I was wrong about this one. Peverley was good last year. He came up with some big goals. But he has been dreadful this year.

But you know what this means!!! SULLIVAN!!!!

Again... we being the people who comprise your account, or Admirals fans as a whole. Because of the follow Ads STHs that I talk to frequently, I have yet to find anyone who actually likes him.

edit: And for my opinion of his play. I prefer the lasting memory of Pihlstrom having a clear breakway in the Playoffs last year. Oh wait, it didnt happen because despite a clear passing lane, Peverley skated around in our own zone accomplishing nothing.
I myself, would rather see Mark Santorelli. Or how about bringing Dave Scatchard back

I dont think that he is as bad as every one is making him sound here.

He just isnt showing a single bit of the hunger to work like a Jones type player.

Claude Noel, current assistant in Columbus, had him in the AHL (Milwaukee) and because of the desperate situation the jackets are in, it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up in Columbus.

At this point, I kind of hope he does. Jackets are desperate.

If he goes to Columbus, that's an added bonus for the Preds

Peverley was in the last group to leave the ice today. He, Belak, and Ward were all wearing maroon and while Belak and Pevs worked with Horachek at one end with extra drills, Ward had a serious conversation with Peterson asking essentially what he can do to stay in the lineup.

Ah yes....we do have the tendency to use the "Royal We".

We = the staff of Admirals Short Shifts.

The way the coaching staff has handled Mark would lead me to believe that he's not ready yet. When the coaches would rather dress 7 defensemen instead of using Mark to have 12 forwards, that's not exactly a ringing endorsement. Last night was his first action since being recalled from Cincy on Dec 22nd.

Peverley was great for the Admirals last year, averaging over a point a game. With Mike and Ryan gone, the team could use some of that.

The bottomline on Peverly is that he is not a grinder. He simply doesn't fit on the bottom two lines. While he scan score in the AHL, he doesn't fit on a scoring line in the NHL because the talent is not there. It really isn't the work ethic, it is the lack of talent and lack of a niche in a lineup....He is just not an NHL player to be brutally honest, and this move had to be made.

Thanks for the analysis. Sounds like he would be a perfect fit for the jackets

Well, the same could be said of Fiddler to a large extent. Fids didn't start out as a grinder- he has more grit but less speed. I thought both could kill penalties and you might get a bit more scoring touch out of Pevs. I was convinced at the start of the year that Fids would be gone at year end and Pevs would take his place. Instead, Pevs sucked. He got softer, still couldn't score and at best is on par with Smithson and Fids at penalty killing. Unlike Fids and the baby-faced killer, Peverly didn't seem to be able to transition into a non-top 6 role and he isn't top 6 material. Another variation on the Darren Haydar model. I don't see him coming back.

Now the poor don't even get Rich.
