Your teams best & worst deadline trades ever.

I figure that this is a good a time as any, the eve of the trading deadline, to ask what was your teams best and worst deadline trade ever. For New Jersey I would say the best is us getting Neil Broten from the North Stars for Corey Millen in '95, big reason why we won it that year.

The worst was getting Sean O'Donnell for Willie Mitchell in 2001. He sucked.

1996 when the Jets traded Teemu Selanne to Anaheim for Oleg Tverdovsky, Chad Kilger and a darft pick I believe? Either way it was brutal and a real blow to Winnipeg fans.

Getting Richard Smehlik last year wasn't such a hot idea at least he didn't cost us too much.

I'm not sure what the worst would be, but the best deal the Coyotes have made in recent memory (I'm pretty sure it was a deadline trade) was Tkachuk for Handzus, Nagy, Taffe and a 1st (Ben Eager).

So many choices, I can't decide which one is the best....

Mar 18, 1997 - Sabres acquire MIROSLAV SATAN from Edmonton in exchange for BARRIE MOORE and CRAIG MILLAR

Mar 23, 1999 - Sabres acquire RHETT WARRENER and a 5th round pick in 1999 (RYAN MILLER) from Florida in exchange for MIKE WILSON

Mar 10, 2000 - Sabres acquire DOUG GILMOUR, J.P. DUMONT and $3 Million from Chicago in exchange for MICHAL GROSEK

Mar 11, 2003 - Sabres acquire DANIEL BRIERE and a 3rd round pick in 2004 from Phoenix in exchange for CHRIS GRATTON and a 4th round pick in 2004

Take your pick....

I don't know, but one of the best in recent memory is the Mathieu Schnieder deal we made last year...he's been one heck of a good addition for the Wings.

I was going to post that as the Oiler's worst. The best was two years ago when Lowe traded Poti for York. That was just great.

What about the Gilmour trade? That was a pretty brutal trade, as I recall...Gilmour and some guy for Smith, Sullivan and McAuley...

Isles:

The Worst- Pierre Turgeon and Vladimir Malakhov to Montreal for Kirk Muller, Mathieu Schneider, and Craig Darby (Schneider was the only positive).

The Best- Billy Harris and Dave Lewis to LA for Butch Goring (the trade that gave the Isles the much needed spark to win their first cup)

Interesting that getting one of the more well-liked players in the league (dressing room-wise) destroyed the team's chemistry, but it also landed the Sharks the team's leading scorer for those two seasons (I believe). If thats the worst deal the Sharks have ever made (and by no means was the Selanne years a success), then you guys have done pretty well for yourselves.

I guess for the Jets the worst would be the Selanne deal to Anaheim. At the time they were getting two of the better prospects in the league, so it made some sense ...I guess. Sure didn't work out.

???????????? That trade helped the Pens win the second cup! How could that be bad??? Tocchet went on to have a great Pens career, Kjell was a solid D-man for a few years after, and Wregget was a great backup/1b goalie......That was a great trade!!!

PS....Tocchet was traded to LA for Robitaille, who was dealt to NY for Nedved who was turned into Kovalev..........Not too shabby at all!!!

I followed the Sharks pretty closely and I don't remember reading anything about any friction between Selanne and the other Sharks players. Sutter yes...but I remember hearing nothing but good things about Selanne and the other players. I understand what you mean, but I just don't think its there.
