Vinny?

so we all know what we all know about eklund - but he does make an interesting point - too lazy to look up slary numbers and such - but at first glance it doesn't seem plausible.

In any case : http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?p...7&blogger_id=1

Staal, Dubi, Prucha plus... for Vinny - yay or nay?

To be honest - if we could dump a big contract in place of one of those 3 - I might be REALLY tempted

members of this board persistently undervalue Marc Staal

unless we were a team on the verge of financial collapse, and Staal had an absurd contract, and we had no shot of winning anytime soon, and no free agents would play for us, and we'd done a bad job drafting, Marc Staal should not be traded. We are none of these (hooray)

In my mind, trading Staal for anyone may take us one step forward, but only before it puts us at least two back. We've one an awful lot of 1 goal/close games this year. Without him, we lose a considerable number of those games, and likely don't earn them back with any of the offense that he might in turn be traded for.

Staal is great getting better and could be the anchor of this team for a long time. he shuts down the top opposing players, covers for his irresponsible partners and is starting to show spurts of offense.

he should not and will not be traded

I WOULD NOT trade him for vinny, regardless of who if anyone else was included.

If you mean the trade being balanced, no I dont think it is. Not just because the talent given by Tampa exceeds what they get in return, but the fact that Staal and Dubinsky represent the best that Rangers youth has been able to turn up post lockout. Why would they trade that for another HUGE salary. We would have 43 odd million locked up in 6 players. Its rediculous and obsurd.

two things...

one, I don't think that gets Vinnie and two, it doesn't get Vinnie unless there are others gone to acquire that salary.

Montreal needs that French figurehead so Vinny fits in perfectly there.

I agree about the Mark Staal sentiment...you can't get rid of a cornerstone of the team.
Start with a great goalie...get a stud D...then build from there.

I'm not a huge fan of Vinny, but I'd trade anyone on the roster not named Staal or Lundqvist for him.

I feel like trading Staal would really undercut the Rangers defense for years to come, and it's one of those things where you need a guy to build your defense around. He's that guy for the Rangers and they need him a whole lot. And since Vinny isn't the best player in the league or anything, I don't want to trade that cornerstone to get him.

I will not trade Staal for any forwards except Ovie, Malkin, or Crosby is involved. He is the best D on the team despite his limited offensive skills (can be developed more). Personally i don't know how good he will in 8 years but right now, NYR have lack necessary skills in D (our rookies are not there yet either). So unless Rangers can get another young top notch D, either Dion, Schenn, Johnson, no thanks. Also, no thanks to any D who's over 30. This includes Lidstrom, Pronger, Jovo, Markov, Chara, the list goes on. I may consider trading Staal for Komisarek though.

p.s: Vinny is overrated and I am not sure how he will fit in the system.

One, Staal is not getting traded, so everyone who is ready to toss him into proposals, get your head examined.

Two, getting Vinny L = PIPE DREAM

I say we wait for TB to get Higgins back in a deal for Vinny, then go send Sangs for Higgins

Um...Vinny and Niki Z would be ridiculous together. Just like Gomez and Jagr?

LOL no but in all seriousness...I would trade Staal, Dubi and Prucha in a heartbeat for Vinny, under one circumstance. We have to get rid of Gomez or Drury somehow...Or maybe just send Rozy in that package and make it a little bigger.

Vinny + Eminger + Jussi Jokinen

For

Staal, Dubi, Prucha, Rozy 2nd round pick 2010 3rd round pick 2011

Edit: Probably need more than that but who even knows. How does one calculate Vinny's worth?

considering what TB wanted from Montreal:

Plekanec, Higgins, Gorges, Subban, 1st 09, 1st 10

here would be a comperable package from the rangers:

Dubinsky, Callahan, Girardi, Del Zotto, 1st 09, 1st 10

! say no thank you....Along with the fact that the Montreal package wasnt even enough and they wanted Markov back with that package I would want no part of Vinny....

There are a couple of interesting UFA's this offseason who I think would fit in well here.....

Higgins is one of them as I dont think he will be resigned in Montreal
