Reading the comments coming from the players I think there is a sense of panic and a sense of uneasiness in the dressing room.

Maybe this board does understand the inner workings of the dressing room after all.

this season so far reminds me of when i was a kid playing NHL games on nintendo.

I would play a half season, realize i wasnt doing so well, none of my players were in the top scorers, so i pressed Reset and started again.

I wish we can reset this season.

No player in the top 50 of scoring, yes top 50.

none of our players are even close to leading any stats. Any important ones anyways.

20 guys all have subpar or disappointing seasons all at once. Minus maybe Markov and Price, and Lang i guess.

Ive been reading the habs book that just came out and reading about what it meant to put on the jersey for these olderplayers...and then i watch this season, when these players are suppose to play with pride and represent our team and city on the centennial.

Too many weak forwards....the D isn't the problem...they actually showed that they gave a F even during a horrible game like that...but, quite frankly, most of our forwards tonight played and looked like they don't give a crap.

If I was Habs GM.....I'd trade Pleks and/or A and S Kost. I just don't see these guys ever putting the team first. Just a feeling I get.

It's a pipe dream....but Rick Nash is exactly what we need.

There's no reason that we play better with a depleted lineup than now. There's a lack of effort but the coaching staff and management has to do a better job.

If the Lang and the Plex line wasn't working, then the right decision was made that they should have been split up. But when all the statistical markers tell you Kovalev and AKost don't work and there's several other combinations possible... WTF?

If the many UFA RFA veterans that need to look good affect the lineup, something needs to be done.

It's been the same thing for a while - a bunch of forwards who have very little desire to compete on a nightly basis.

This is on Gainey.

Perhaps, but the main point is that it hasn't been a consistent team at all this season. We started great, then we had that November swoon, then we had that nice stretch early in the long homestand, then we lost 3 straight to TB-WAS-CAR, then we went 11-2-1, now we've lost 4 straight. We're kind of all over the map. And that's a concern.

Who would have thought ANY Habs player would have made such comments after the NYR comeback last year and the NYI comeback this year?

I'm sure he's been and still is trying. Bob's a smart dude......he depended on the likes of Plekanec, the Kosts, Higgins to take it to another level, and show some ownership of this team and it's destiny...and they clearly haven't. I'm sure he's very, very active. It's just so difficult to make a deal these days.

Do we have too many players playing for contracts? At any given time are some guys not in the lineup because of contractual situations? etc... I think Gainey will need to tidy these questions out.

i think thats an astute observation. I think Gainey really thought those guys would start becoming the faces of the team and start being what drives the organization. I think its becoming evident he misread the development and character of those players. I don't really see any of them being more than support cast unfortunately Gainey thought they were core players.

like most of us have said for a while, we need a better BEST player on this team, more importantly a better best forward, who will show up game in and game out and contribute on the score sheet every game, i love kovalev but he needs a star player to help him produce at the level he can

when we dont have 1 player like that, what happens is guys like higgins and pleks and even the kostitsyn bros are seen as top players that must score 30 goals a year an get 70 pts a year, and these expectations are way too high for them (just like koivu all these years) while some of them might get to that mark, it probably wont be on a consistant basis or wont produce those numbers season after season

i think andrei kostitsyn can be that player but needs more consistency in his game

i am not saying we should get 3 or 4 of them, one superstar forward with our supporting cast is what we need to go far in the playoffs...sadly, just vinny seems to be the logical choice, or maybe kovalchuk who might be available and can get traded by overpaying for them
