Fact is Lidstrom wouldn't have played either way. Every team deals with adversity and good fortune. Columbus caught a break that night, and they capitalized on it. We've also had our share of hard times(Brassard out for the season, LeClaire injured in preseason by Boogard charging the net and now out for the season because of it). Every team has to deal with adversity, thats why you get 82 games to overcome.
Answer 2 questions? 1. Did the 2 points that CBJ got affect their position in the playoff race? 2. Why not Brodeur last year?

Lidstrom said himself he was aware that it could've led to him sitting out the next game. He said something along the lines of "I'd rather get the 5-6 days to rest than to take a game off later and only get 2-3 days to rest". So stop ****in crying, both of them should've shown up to participate in the activities. You know how badly some fans wanted to meet Datsyuk or get his autograph? You've got to show up, it's your duty as a professional athlete/role model.

1. Yes 2. Because they chose not to enforce it last year, duh.

Now answer these:

1. Why do you care so much about other teams place in the standings

2. If Detriot wasn't involved in the suspension debacle in any way, would you give so much of a damn that 80% of your posts are in regards to it?

Are you honestly going to use that as an excuse if your team gets beaten out by Columbus for a playoff spot?

An even better site:

http://www.playoffstatus.com/nhl/westernstandings.html

Sharks can clinch 1st in the West with a combination of 7 wins and 7 Wings' losses over the course of the next three months.

i can still hold out hope for the 2nd seed, Flames are only 7 points behind the Wings with a game in hand. i know it's not very likely for the Red Wings to continue to falter but at least it's something to shoot for

Flames fans have a very similar feeling to a certain playoff series vs. the Wings

Yeah, good luck with that.
Wings' recent mini slide has also given my Sharks some breathing room before they take on their horrendous road schedule in Feb.

But of course the Wings will turn it around soon, because that' what they do every year.

As for the bottom seeds, it's just way too close to call right now.
I will personally root for Phoenix because of my family connection, but other than that, I'm just going to enjoy the race until the final buzzer like most of you will.

I'm pretty sure you have to double that number. Either 30 consecutive wins for the Sharks...or 15 SJ wins + 15 DET losses

Though honestly, to me it's all fuzzy math

When is Gaborik expected back, March? That should give the Wild a boost at the end of the year (if he isn't traded or something)

Again I don't care if the Wings win or lose that game. I'm talking about the NHL has affected 5-6 other teams.

Nobody seems to understand Bettman made decision that affected not just your team but 5-6 others. That decision didn't affect the Wings. They are going finish 1, 2 or 3rd in the league this year, so one win or lose is not a big deal. And also why Bettman decided to start enforcing the rules this year. Why not last year? Because he would have to suspend of the golden children of the league last year in "Brodeur".
LMAO...A wings fan who is deeply "concerned" for the points "given" to the CBJ and the way it affected Dallas, Colorado, Edmonton, Vancouver, Phoenix, Minnesota and Anaheim. You'd think fans of those teams would be PO'd, but, no, it's a COUPLE Red Wings fans that are highjacking threads over it. If I were a fan of one those "5-6" other teams, I'd be more PO'd at Lindstrom and Datsyuk for making the choice that resulted in them not playing the CBJ game.

To the best of my understanding, the reason they enforced it this year had a lot to do with Brodeur missing it last year. And seriously, 2 pts in the standings will do NOTHING to change Detroits final place in the standings this year (#2 in the West), so WHY DO YOU CARE!?

Here's where I'm really at with this. I could care less about 1 game. I tired of Bettman trying to run the players. The Comm is for the Owners and not the players. He needs to keep in nose in corporate box and out of the teams locker room. He is trying to run the NHL like the NBA and Stern.

Calgary won't even be close to Detroit by season's end. The only reason Calgary has a good chance to even win their division is because the NW is such a joke.

If the season ended today, half the Western Conference teams would be NW teams.
