Gino Odjick named his son Bure. Bure Odjick. No joke.

The Odjick quote is: "I was amazed what great shape Pavel was in [when I saw him]. If he was offered a contract, I think, he could return to the NHL." There is nothing whatsoever in the interview about a planned return, just Odjick complimenting Bure over not getting fat.

Uhm, he was the GM of Russia's 2006 Olympic team, a position that existed for a couple of months at most and probably didn't include a salary...

Not gonna happen. Bure hasn't played hockey in far too long.

His game was all about his unreal speed. Even without his chronic knee problems, at age 37, he'd probably only be at best a 30 goal scorer these days. With drastically lessened speed due to age and injury I figure he'd be merely an average second liner. Nothing to get excited about. And he won't be back.

Back in the NHL? Not with his Bobby Orr-like knees.

Don't tell Claude Lemieux that.

I would love to see Bure back in the NHL. He was my favorite player to watch growing up.

He should have never left. Now he shouldn't come back. His legacy is pretty unbelievable. I think if he comes back he comes back behind the bench, not sitting on it.

Canucks sign him to play with Sundin, two 37-yo, no way he will turn that down.

A few more healthy years and it's an absolute no brainer. The quality is there... it's just a question about the quantity.

It pains me to say it but I bet if the 'nucks won in '94 his chances would be that much greater.

Definitely a HoF talent. But a HoF career? Personally, if it was up to me, I would try to get him in before he's no longer eligible depending on who else was on the ballot because of how exciting he was to watch. Bure was a healthy year or two and one penalty shot goal away from being a pretty sure thing.

Damn you Mike Richter...damn you.

Mitch

The last time I saw him, and granted it was in a few different pictures, he looked kinda bloated. Who knows, maybe he is in shape.

Here's a very rough translation.

Quote:
31/01/09 - A correspondent of the Russian daily Sports Soviet met Gino Odjick incidentally in Vancouver and according to this last, " Russian Rocket " Pavel Bure could come back in NHL.

The ancient protector and team mate of Frock visits him at least in his domicile of Florida once a year. Odjick claimed to be astonished to see to what extent Pavel was in form and grows that if a team came to give him a contract, he could come back in NHL.
I doubt that this ever happens. But put him on the Flyers' 3rd line with Briere, we have 3 #1 lines.
