I am guessing the Sun picked this rumor up from Kings fans themselves. This one has been floating around for awhile. Personally it makes me sick. Frolov does everything. The last few games he has been logging more minutes than most defensemen. If the Kings really want to make the playoffs, they will not be trading their best player.

The problem is that the Kings NEVER resign there star UFAs and that is why this rumor is alive. Besides Visnovsky (who than got traded) I can't think of anyone. I hope these rumors are all just speculation based on the Kings past, and that for once they hold on to their talent.

Well, if Frolov really truly is our best player then his value at $4 mil should give us a hefty return.

Lubo was not a ufa. He had signed a new contract prior to being a UFA and was traded just before the NMC kicked in. A very solid move by DL imo.

Ask yourself this, do you really think that Lubo would get much playing time under TM? TM don't like softies.

Only ufa that got away the past few years that I can think of is Cammy.

To FL: Horton, Olesz, 1st (maybe Matthias)

To LA: Frolov

Olesz is injured right now, but should be back soon. As a starting point anyway, I guess.

*If he'll get that Heatley package, then I doubt Florida goes anywhere close.

You are right about great players getting traded after having one "good but not as good as usual" year. Frolov isn't having a great year but it might not be quite average enough to get traded.
The Kings had various holes to fill. When they traded Lubo for Greener and Stolly they filled 2 holes, because Doughty took up Lubo's minutes. So DL knew exactly what he was doing and I'm glad he did what he did. 2 players for the price of one, PLUS filled 2 holes in our lineup.

Gaborik is an UFA after season, so that makes little sense. As for Kovalchuk for Frolov+, I don't get what is in it for Atlanta: Only reason they would trade Kovy is that he is an UFA after next season and they may not be able to resign him, and it would be exactly the same thing with Frolov.

i kinda likes it. another trade would have to follow; LA would have too many forwards. how about this one...

To FL: Frolov + one of Ersberg/Quick/Bernier + Hickey
To LA: Horton + Vokoun + 1st

Milk is free? Where do you shop? I might just have to fly down.

I like this proposal. I would probably do this one. Good value. Good job.

The only reason I could see for moving Frolov would be to try and move up in the draft is that they are looking to move up in the draft for a shot at Tavares, but getting rid of Frolov is just a huge step backwards.

Regardless of the fact that I see no reason for the Kings to move him and think this is a bogus rumor I'd LOVE to have him in Pittsburgh, so here's my offer:

To LA: Jordan Staal, Casey-Pierro Zabotel, 2nd round pick in 2009

To Pitt: Alexander Frolov

Let me ask you this, how many elite wingers do the Leafs have?

No. It's Kovalchuk or nothing from Atlanta. I'm guessing it's the latter, so, again, no.

Not a huge Olesz fan but I'd probably make this trade. Horton is young and signed for awhile. The first would give the Kings alot of options on draft day.

Make it Frolov, Doughty, a 1st and a forward prospect and you have a deal.

I'm sure we can sway Heatley to waive his no movement clause...

You are missing my point, what kind of hefty return are the Kings going to get from a team that is selling for a player that has 1 year left on his contract.

When I say UFA, i mean UFAs to be as well. I am not saying the Lubo trade was bad, just that it happened. The Kings never hang on to their star UFAs and UFAs to be. This includes names like Palffy, Robitaille, Blake, Gretzky, the list goes on.

Frolov would be the Oil's leading goal scorer and Stoll isn't far behind your 1st line center Horcoff despite the fact he's spent some time on the 4th line. Did I mention Greene's been a beast on the PK and Quincey has taken care of Visnovsky's production? Kings are improving without Visnovsky and Cammalleri and will continue to do so.
