The drive for Tavares began when the tsn ticker read:

"Wild sign F Andrew Brunette
Capitals sign G Jose Theodore"

and the Avs responded with:

"Avalanche sign F Darcy Tucker
Avalanche sign G Andrew Raycroft"

I went on a tirade.

--

If the Blues win (which is possible with Detroits recent play) the Avs will only be 1 point ahead of them for 15th, but with 2 more games played.

Anyways this is a bit off topic.
I would pick Tavares too. You could always trade Wolski or Tavares for a young stud #1 D-man.

Yeah, Anderson has been good the past two years, but as a backup. Which often means he plays the weaker teams in the league. Plus, he has all of 90 games of NHL experience. I'd much rather the Avs go with a more proven commodity.

That's exactly what I thought about when I read his post too. We don't need another poster making sexual references about our goalie.

I agree, it's a bit risky with Craig, but he probably could be had cheaper than say Backstrom or Khabibulin.

Dan Ellis
Pascal Leclaire
Chris Mason
Ilya Bryzgalov
Peter Budaj
Andrew Raycroft

Players who had a great year but yet to repeat it. Craig will most likely be on this list unless he proves his consistency. Signing him would be equal to the risk of signing Budaj/Raycroft.

I don't see how anyone could pass on Tavares. He's been such a big game player in juniors, and has had a page on tsn.ca dedicated to him since he was 14 years old called Johnathan Tavares 101 (which, laughably, isn't there anymore now that he's a household name ).

Guys, we have separate threads for the draft and for next year's team. I know it's hard, but try to keep this one about tonight's game

But seriously Jori...every game the AVs play (or don't as the case may be) has more and more impact on the draft than anything else.

Thanks for stepping in and keeping us in line but seriously...if we weren't talking about the future this thread would have ended after the first post and would not have had anything to offer until after the puck drop. It's too bad you can't give our coach or management or any players infractions or suspensions for high-jacking the thread. It is really them that has done this to us...This is not a hi-jacking of our own devices.

No I get it. I like the other discussions personally, but they'll get lost in a few days once we move on to another game thread.

You mean my first post offered enough about the game to stand on it's own? That would be a first

Anybody who wants to watch some Avs players that are playing a meaningful game, the beanpot is on tonight. Shattenkirk and Cohen are playing. Good game so far.

It's so much more fun to talk about how bad the AVs are going to suck tonight. Just like most nights.

Instead of placing a favorite to offer up the game winner...I'm offering y'all Peter Budaj for a mis-handled puck that will lead to the game winner....2:25 into the third period.

I've got future AV's watching envy going on right now. How are you watching the game?

I really hope those two actually get to start together, but I tend to think at least one of them gets traded for Todd Burtuzzi at some point.

You should be jealous. Not only do i get to watch it, but it is also in HD.

Sportsnet is covering it in Canada, cause Canada is awesome.

Obviously I had to look it up, thanks.

NCAA has an awesome website. I was pretty surprised they had that good of a site for hockey.

Well, the Avs won't provide anything of merit so we've got to do something to make the thread worth reading.
