Sorry King, Brooks article.

I applaud the honesty.

Not to often I agree with him, but Brooks is absolutely correct on this.

Outstanding article.

And these guys need to realize that the direction that the team is going in now has just as much chance of success in the short term as the team that was on the ice two weeks ago. And definitely a better chance of success in the future. But that's what you get when you fill the team by and large with mercenaries.

Brian Leetch got it. Brian Leetch is a Ranger. Brian Leetch wanted to be here for a rebuilding. Brian Leetch wanted to help the young guys.

Great Article

"to hear some of the whining over the last week, some of the woe-is-me stuff, you'd think these players were no more than innocent bystanders "

"Bobby Holik didn't sign up for this? Neither did the season ticket holders who help pay the freight, that's for sure. If Holik doesn't want to be here anymore, if he isn't prepared to lead the new Rangers - a team, by the way, that next year will be crafted far more in his image of a successful unit than either this year's or last year's - then he has this morning to go to Sather and offer to give back whatever is necessary of the $27 million he's owed over the next three years in order that he can be traded and the team can get something of value in return."

"What? Is none of this Messier's fault, either? Does he bear no responsibility for the manner in which the franchise has fallen into international disrepute? Never in the history of pro sports has there been such a failure as the Rangers over the last seven years, the disgrace becoming more and more pronounced every season"

Agreed w/ everything that Brooks said. Messier needs to go. He is clearly a part of the problem and not the solution. The faster he is gone, the more time will go by and I will forget the Mess of the last 4 years and recall the Mess of the early & mid 90's.
Hey Bobby, not happy? Give back the $$$ that you robbed the Garden of in your first year.
Jackass is primarily at fault here. But no matter how misused the players were, no matter how non-existent any semblance of a system was, no matter how inept the coaching and GMing has been, there's no excuse (NONE)for the lack of effort which the team exhibited on a nightly basis.

That has got to be without a doubt the BEST thing Larry Brooks has ever written. BRAVO.

Good article, but just remember it when Brooks suggests we go after four or five high priced 30 year old UFAs after the new CBA.

That is why Brian Leetch should not have been traded. We have/had plenty of other veterans to accumulate picks with.

It would have taken a Carlo Colaiacovo for me to consider.

Larry Brooks is a slave to the conventional wisdom. Now that the conventional wisdom is aligned with what this board has been saying for years, Brooks agrees with you. But don't make the mistake of thinking he has great insights.

This article should be posted in the locker room!

Of course, if they are as smart off the ice as they are on, nothing will sink in!

Yeah, but with any good piece of writing its all about the timing, and i don't see any other of the NY writers giving us this kind of honesty right now.

but it wasn't last night.

I know all to well that Brooksy is a moron, but for someone who gets the criticism (deservedly so) I would also like to point out the not to often good articles that I have read.

I'm sure that he will revert to his normal self, but I appreciate the honesty from him today.

Did i miss something but when did holik say he didn't sign up for this? Messier the man who helped bring us the Stanley Cup wants to retire a Ranger. wow the crime of that.

Aren't you fellas the same guys that want the Rangers to tank the next thirteen games?

Messier WAS the man who helped us win the Cup. He is now only a shadow of his that person. His legendary leadership skills disappeared like his hair. Messier has a chance to help the organization and he is refusing to do so. The fact of the matter is that Messier refuses to go to another team becuase no matter what team it would be, he would not have the hammer like he has here. There's no Jackass that will play him 20 minutes a game and blindly send him over the boards in every situation. On another team, Messier would be nothing more than a 10 minute per game 4th liner with no letters on his jersey. He would not be in any type of top line position. His ego cannot handle the demotion.
