That's a potential #1 overall pick, so I'm not sure if I can see Tampa pulling the trigger on this one. I'd rather have Meszaros and Tavares than Kaberle and Kulemin.

Leafs would never do this. There's no way that tampa pick is in lottery territory, especially with Kaberle on the blueline for the stretch run.

Doubt its #1. Especially with Kaberle on the team. Tempting from the Leafs perspective, but I would be reluctant to give up on Kulemin.

Who needs Kulemin when they can call up Bates Battaglia?

Hey whats with the dissing of Bates Battaglia. I think he could be a good third/fourth liner in the NHL. He was one of the hardest working players on the leafs a couple of years ago, why not given him another chance.

actually Tampa is likely to get in the top 5 and who cares? its the deepest draft since 05. Some serious stars will come out of this draft and after the top 5. Tampa gets hosed! Not even close really..

I love how you think Kaberle is worth a lottery pick.

You misread. I said that with Kaberle the pick wouldn't be a lottery pick. If the pick isn't top ten the value isn't that ridiculously high.

If I was the Leafs Gm I would be really hesitated about trading Kulemin

I just really like his overall game and once he becomes comfortable with the NA style of hockey I believe hes going to be a very good nhler

This might fly if was straight up for like the #5-6 pick on draft day.

I doubt Tampa would part with Mez on top of it though.

I think this is okay unless the pick is #1 or 2.

Not even close really?

So in your opinion, a player who has the potential to be a star in the NHL has more value then one with a great contract and is already an NHL all star?

Anyone below #2 would be LUCKY if they had the success Kaberle has had. Draft pick values are unbelievably high on this board.

What about a conditional pick. If Tampa finishes in the Lottery, Toronto gets their 1st in 2010 and 3rd in 2010?

Yes the Leafs stink, none of their fans will deny that this season. So let them trade their best defender, one of the premiere puck movers in the league on a great contract to the Lightning for an overpaid 2nd pairing d-man and a 1st round pick that will land around the 10-13 position once Kaberle joins their team. Not to mention they are sending off Kulemin as well, who IMO has the potential to be a solid 2nd line winger.

Might want to THINK before making posts like that.

That trade is horrible on many accounts

1st: TB doesn't do it because that pick could be a) Tavares b) Hedman
2nd: Tor doesn't do it because its they are giving up a great-young rookie who could potientially be a 30g 30a guy.
3rd: there will be much better offers for kaberle than Mez out there.
4th: Kaberle has a NTC & WILL NOT waive it to go to a team lower in the standings
5th: Meszeros is overpaid and locked into a long-term contract. We have enough of those in TO

Trade doesn't work on many levels....unrealistic.

Ya, the leafs are a horrible hockey team becasue we "over value" our players....

you need to think before you post.

Every team over values their players, thats why we have our own boards. But that is a horrible trade for Toronto, not too mention, one that would never happen. Kaberle won't waive his NTC to go to a team lower in the standings.
