Gilbert is a college D Man with decent size and some fine offensive skills. He will be an NHL defenseman in all likehood and *could* develop into a top 4 D Man with decent offensive instincts from what I've read

Tom Gilbert sucks. i would've taken a 6th for him, so Salo is nice to have. I bet money that Salo doesn't play in more than 2 games. this is purely an insurance policy in case Abby gets injured.

Aebischer should feel better about his role than if the Avs had acquired Kolzig. Looks like he's Lacroix's guy for the playoffs, as he's said all along.

I doubt anyone will be clamouring for Salo to be the starter in Colorado, so as long as he's an upgrade on Sauve (yes Oilers fans.. he is) then it's a good deal by Lacroix.

As unbelieveable as it sounds that Salo could be better than another goalie in the NHL this season, I think in this case it is true. :p

Man Salo hasn't been the same since that Belarus Goal....no on second thought that's classic Salo, he hasn't been the same since Cloutier kicked his ass.

Edmonton has just thrown in the towel, folks.

Salo sucks, but Conklin and Juicy ain't an upgrade.

God Shames fans crack me up. If they get any dumber their collective IQ will be -3452354.

Markkanen & Conklin>>>>>>>>>Salo.

Markkanen and Conklin- .916 & .915 SV% respectively. Salo, below .900 SV%.

Good for the Oilers. And it starts with Jussi getting a SO over the Flameouts tonite!

These Shames fans are probably so angry they're tearing out their greasy mullets since Sutter didn't convince PL to take Turek first.

Good trade for Edmonton, Salo loved the City of Champions but just wasn't getting it done. Hopefully he does awesome in Colorado.

Solid trade for the Oilers.

Tom Gilbert is a good defenseman.

Good deal for Colorado. Salo will be an improvement over Sauve, for sure. Now Aebischer won't have to worry about the Avs going after Kolzig, which means he's #1. Good move PL.

One way or another, he would've found this out this evening anyway.

Yup.. he's the worst starting goalie in the league right now....I'm amazed that the Avs took him and that they gave up something for him.

The Oil will be in the market for another starting keeper, but it won't be before the deadline. They'll go with Marks and Conks until the season is out. Expect the Oil to talk with Buffalo on the offseason or draft day.

I still think Salo has a bit left in him, he played the Wings pretty well a few weeks back at the JLA. Maybe playing with Forsberg again will help his game.

Tom Gilbert developed very nicely for me in EHM. I somehow ended up dealing for him a couple months ago ;-)

Interesting...

Salo's game has just improved tenfold for the simple reason he doesn't have to face Forsberg anymore

Still has to deal with Naslund tho..
