My short list of possible trade targets!

kovalchuk (Pipe Dream)
Horton
Svatos
Gionta
Prucha
Antropov
Hudler

I still will be surprised if anything major goes down this season on the trade front but after looking through all of the NHL rosters these were the only forwards that seemed possibly attainable.

I think if we are going to make a push for the playoffs a move has to be made sooner than later and the listed players are there more so with this purpose in mind. A little offense in the least anyway.

Not sure how this list would look with more long term goals in mind.

Anyone have different ideas about who is available and who the kings should target?

Would love it but I don't see him moving unless the Kings offer some pieces that would really HURT to move.

Gionta or Prucha are a lot more likely than Kovalchuk.

Prucha! F that. He is awful.

Gionta is a poor mans Cammy.

I'll take Svatos or Antropov only b/c they would play well with Kopitar.

I still don't understand why all over the trade forum and every forum people believe Kovalchuk is and will be moved. Kovalchuk has multiple times stated he wants to win it in ATL and wants to win with the team that drafted him. I do not see him leaving and every indication coming from Kovalchuk himself or management is that he will not be leaving. That said I would love him but not happening.

The best proposal I saw on the trade boards which would likely never happen but Frolov for Horton+Olesz+1st. I would love the opportunity to add Horton, I think a change of scenery would help him really errupt and both those guys fit very well into the style of play we play.

I'd love it if we signed Antropov this summer.

Meh, I like Prucha and I don't imagine he would cost that much (might just need a change of scenery)

I kind of like that trade as well but I can't imagine Florida liking it very much unless there is some truth to Horton wanting out.

That's alot to give up for Frolov.

Olesz I really don't care about.

Kind of off-topic, but is the salary cap expected to drop considering how much of a mess the economy is in right now? I would think if it drops, the Kings need to hold out for FA as many teams at or near the cap simply wont be able to afford signing any players and might be dumping players with contracts for a few years for cheap.

Not sure if the cap will drop significantly this off season but I doubt players will be looking at huge contract offers from teams with an eye on the economy down the road.

There are alot of GMs that pull some crazy stuff so who knows for sure!

He most certainly does. There's always the possibility he could waive it, though.

I'm seeing a lot of thoughts from you guys on getting lesser quality scorers. Wouldn't you guys want a Heatley, Hossa, or Kovalchuk? It's a totally realistic possibility of us getting one of the top notch guys. We're set in terms of the cap, cash, prospect, picks, and available players to trade-more than ANY other team, in fact.

I think Gaborik to the Kings for 2 or 3 prospects. Gaborik could possibly go to the Kings via FA. So the Wild go to the Kings and try to get something via trade.

Hickey, Boyle, and 2nd?

Update - Gaborik has hip surgery so forget the trade and signing him to a big contract would be a mistake too.

We do have some cash coming off the books but we also have ALOT of young players we have to keep.

Who knows if LA will ever spend to the cap?

Signing Hossa means trading Frolov next year. If LA can get Hossa long term for around 7-8 mil a year than I think they will diffinently be in the conversation.

I think DL would love to get a superstar in LA. My guess is we try to get Gaborik on a discount and hope he holds up for a year.

Kopitar, Handzus, Stoll (roughly 14 million in three centers already)

Who is honestly available?

Drury, Gomez, Briere, Bergeron, Spezza, Weight, Vinny?

Not going to happen Legion.
