Really pumped for this one, more than the recent Boston and Detroit tilts because of how hot the Devils are. Their veteran group up front is going to be tough to contain and it'll make for an excellent team-wide test of both their collective defensive ability and their smarts in attacking NJ's structured defense.

yeah, silly me picking up Weekes instead of Clemmensen; and of all weeks for Langenbrunner's GWG run; great for the Devils, but of all weeks...
Just giving you a hard time. I remember you had family in the Devs area!

Don't feel too bad about picking up Weekes, the Devils fan in my league did the same exact thing.

One of the few things I'm known for in my competitive league is not keeping a single goalie I draft. The past 4 years I've drafted 3/4 goalies in each draft and only ended the season with 1 of the 13. I trade like crazy!

(She does have Mason however...so it's more of a wash. Plus Marty will be back by the time the fantasy playoffs start...and I'll be screwed. Damn you sk8!)
I'm screwed in fantasy playoffs too, the 2nd week in playoffs the Caps only play 2 games! I've mentioned it in other threads but I have Ovechkin, Semin, Backstrom, and Green (and Theodore behind Kipper/Lundqvist). Those are going to have to be a really good 2 games offensively for me to stand a chance, either that or I'll need someone else to step up - maybe Kovalchuk, the rest of my lineup is scraps. I've been in 1st for majority of the season but I put myself as the underdog in that week for sure.

This will be a serious test on the road. The Caps have been crap lately when not at home..and it won't be easy against this nasty piece of business.

That means it won't be on Center Ice, right? Which means I can't watch it at all.

Putting aside my homer glasses, though, Sutter deserves significant praise. The Jack Adams is probably going to either Julien or McLellan, and both are deserving, but Sutter has done a great job since joining New Jersey.
Yeah *gasp* I don't know what we'll do if we lose Clemmenson and Weekes both to injury. I guess we'll just have to play Brodeur. But we'll have to wait 3 weeks before he's ready. So if we lose both Weekes and Clemmenson, we'll have to call up Jeff Frazee, who was the AHL all-star.

I'm guessing the Devils will be doing just fine with that tandem to hold them over until later in the month when Brodeur returns, and Brodeur should enter the playoffs refreshed for the first time in years. The way they're playing right now, Frazee would probably do an admirable job holding down the fort, anyway. Clemmensen deserves a ton of credit, but that team can protect a backup/callup goaltender better than any team in the league. The Devils are firing on all cylinders.

Anyone know if Leonhardt is on the road with the team? You could borrow him.

I know, but I was clarifying for your benefit (and others.) It's more than just having family up there.

I don't feel bad, more like annoyed, but I did turn Weekes into Mason in that league.

Back to tonight's game...no injuries, a good game and a Caps win by 1G in regulation sounds great to me!

My fantasy goalies to start the year were Turco, Giguere and Osgood.

I've managed to improve slightly to Mason, Giguere and Bryzgalov.

Caps have to come out firing and put the Devils on their heels at the start. Plus they have to stay out of the box. It will be a close game but the Caps prevail in the end.

Ah so thats why Turco is turning it around, you got rid of him.

If it makes you guys feel any better, my friend had a horrible goalie rotation going at the time Mason was called up to replace the injured Leclaire, I notified him that it might be worth giving him a roster spot while Leclaire was hurt....oops.

Well Doc didn't do the game last night on Versus (I think it was Forslund - don't remember). It'll be interesting see Doc call a game on Versus involving the Devils. I don't think I've ever seen him do it (not that I think he'll show bias).

Though Doc/Devils on Versus is not as interesting as it would be to see Jack Edwards and Eddie O do a Bruins vs Penguins game. Thats a fist fight waiting to happen.
