Leafs after Ron Francis??

Bob McKenzie just said on TSN that Toronto and Vancouver are both going hard after Francis from Carolina. Supposedly Francis will waive his no-trade to go to the Leafs or Canucks.

Thoughts?

I doubt he'd cost much and he'd be a great Pick-up

Roberts-Sundin-Mogilny
Antropov-Nieuwendyk-Poni
Tucker/Renberg-Francis-Nolan
Tucker/Renberg- enter your 4th line

I think that would be a real Classy and great move depth wise for Toronto ..Being a Ontario kid ... Winning a cup in his back yard would be nice way to end a career

Actually McKenzie said that the Leafs and Canucks have talked to Francis about waiving his no-trade clause and he hasn't decided yet.

If he does decide to waive it, the Leafs and Carolina would have to strike a deal.

He'd be a great pick-up. Wouldn't cost too much. Great center for Nolan and Tucker and he's good insurance in case Nieuwendyk goes down.

If the leafs were to land Ron Francis it would be a great pick up, and he would fit perfect in between Nolan and Tucker. and would be great on the 2nd power play with Nolan and Antropov or someone else...

Francis is still very good in the face off box. I still like Reichel, but the Leafs do need depth there because Stajan is a little young still to rely on.

I have said for weeks now Toronto should go after Francis. Ronnie Francis would be a great pickup for the leafs as he still has speed and good hands and a good face-off man. Placing Ron Francis on a line with Darcy Tucker and Owen Nolan would give Toronto a extremely dangerous 3 lines and IMO would make the lines of Tucker/Francis/Nolan the 2nd line and the Sky line move down to the 3rd. I would absolutely love to see this happen.

If they gonna keep picking up greybeards, then this is one they have to pick up.
But because they have to, they won't. It would be awesome if they did!

I'm in for this one. Francis would be an ideal guy to bring in because he would replace Reichel as a third line centre, would be another excellent dressing room guy and leader, more playoff and SC Final experience, excellent on the powerplay, what else could you ask for really?

If is is an affordable acquisition, then it is a no brainer.

Sources have told TSN that Ron Francis has agreed to waive his no-trade clause to Toronto. Carolina and Toronto are reportedly negotiating a deal.

Hey folks, who do you think Toronto would be willing to part with in terms of prospects or draft selections? I'm pretty sure Toronto would hesitate at trading roster players, correct?

Ok, this excites me just a little. What a classy and talented guy to add.

What do you guys think it will cost? Rutherford has tons of respect for Francis, so you have to think that this will get done now, or he wouldn't have asked Francis, IMO.

Likewise, I can't see him holdoing us hostage on a deal for Francis.

Maybe He'll take Reichel back!

It might be wishful thinking on my part, but look at what we gave up to get Douggie back last year. I doubt the return going to Carolina will be anything significant.
