Laraque aiming for Friday return

Twenty minutes before this morning's schedule pre-game skate, Canadiens' George Laraque was on Bell Centre ice practising ... fighting.

For five minutes, Big Georges worked out with boxing coach and martial artist Bobby Fillipelli, who was wearing a helmet and the big, padded gloves boxing trainers wear for punching work.

Clearly it was a drill for balance, which is required in Laraque's special line of work. So BGL might be very near a return to action. Head coach Guy Carbonneau later said he hopes Laraque will be back in the lineup Friday in Buffalo.

A few minutes of warmup with the small guy and Georges had his hands full with Hamilton callup Alex Henry. And it was not cloak-and-dagger stuff; there was a tour group sitting in the Bell Centre stands.

Source...

Henry for Laraque I'd assume. Henry is -2 in 2 games.

Put him and Henry on the same line. Embarass the Leafs on the scoreboard and on the physical side.

That's what I was thinking. Begin at center!

It's about time we have someone who can win a fight in the lineup

Please dress him against the Leafs, May, Mayers and Deveaux will **** their pants when hes on the ice.

Tell him to talk with Grabovski, then Grabo will be so quiet.

He was playing late in the 3rd period.

I don't really dispute what you're saying, but I thought Henry did great work last night. Good positionally, you can tell he is/was a d-man in our own end. He can't skate a lick but he knows the d-zone and that's pretty good.

well... Carbo's logic worked, we truly need D-man in our lineups to win games

Hopefully if he does return Friday, it will be for more than 1 game. I want BGL in the lineup for the rest of the season. If he can't do that, then what did we get him for?

I don't blame Mayers and May for doing what they did last game, they were getting embarrassed on the scoreboard and its only natural to respond that way.

we all know that Laraque follows this unwritten fighters code too much and he won't go after anyone just to go after anyone....its unfortunate but true.

Buffalo is a good skating team,I really don't see how Laraque in the lineup would help us on Friday,Saturday against Toronto well that's a different story + he needs to take care of May,but then again who knows if he will even fight

So you would rather the Habs have no toughness at all and get pushed around by bigger, tougher players all the time and lose games because our small forwards are scared to go into the corners???

Laraque will serve a purpose on this team....we just need him to be healthy first. I'll guarantee that if BGL is in the lineup the next time we play the Bruins, we'll win!!!

I just don't think he serves any purpose against soft Buffalo team. Sure they got Peters, but not like he's going to drop them with Kosto is GL isn't in the lineup.

That same small group of forwards finished 1st overall last year in the East.

Also Laraque did play against the Bruins did year and didn't do that well beside chasing Lucie all night just to see him score a goal
