Draft 2009: Saskatoon vs Edmonton tonight

On Sportsnet West at 9:00PM and Sportsnet Pacific at 10:00PM, Saskatoon plays against Edmonton with some interesting players.

EDMONTON

#22 - TOMAS VINCOUR - RW (#79CSS) : Guy who was touted to be a sure 1st rounder for this upcoming draft but doesn't seem to have the year that everybody expected. But the kid has skills, skates well and has a great size to go with his good instincts. But clearly a guy that could be available to us at one point during the first rounds of the draft.

NOTE: Vincour is injured since a couple of weeks though, didn't play in the prospects game and didn't play yesterday....don't know when he's scheduled to come back, let's hope it's tonight)

There a couple of other kids but not worth mentioning yet.

SASKATOON

#25 - BURKE GALLIMORE - RW (#75CSS): Great stats for a guy who just turned 18.
#26 - DARIAN DZIURZYNSKI - LW (not rated yet): Grit and drops them....will see if he actually also can play...
#6 - STEFAN ELLIOTT - D (#22CSS): Offensive d-man with great stats so far this year. Not your most punishing d-man and report says that he's smooth skating and sound defensively.
#30 - ADAM MORRISON - G (not rated yet): Backup goalie with an interesting size.

So in resume, Vincouver, Gallimore and Elliott are the most interesting players. Though Vincour might be out of the lineup 'cause of an injury.

West and Pacific
I kind of like the Blades, wish I could watch them play a game.

Glad I didn't go to the game tonight, the Blades waxed the Oil Kings 7-1. Vincour is still injured, and not sure when he is expected back. They also lost against top ranked Calgary 6-2 last night in Cowtown, so a tough week for them after a great 1-0 against Jordan Eberle in front of 13,800 on Saturday night (a new team record for attendance).

Vincour is a pretty complete player, but not quite the game breaker or as dynamic as say Ferraro from Red Deer or the top WHL eligible forward Schenn. I expect Ferraro should go late first round and Vincour will drop to the second. He does have a nice package, just not a dominating player. The Oil Kings have a great young defensman in Mark Pysyk who is an 92 born and expected to go fairly highly in the 2010 draft. The kid has great wheels and on ice vision and good offensive instincts. Not bad in his own end for a first year player either. He looks like he has nice potential for sure. He is from Sherwood Park, where the team billets, so he even gets to stay at home and eat mom's cooking.
