That McKenna played a helluva game, actually.

His defense put in two of the goals against him. (neither were Malkin's)

I really want the pens to make the 7th spot.

The Ovechkin era Caps must go through Pittsburgh in order to fulfill their destiny.

I'd have to think the Pens would lose that series, but come on, you'd have to appreciate that as a hockey fan.

Ovechkin has been great but the Caps as a team are awesome this year and Malkin is doing all the heavy lifting in Pittsburgh this year.
agree on all counts there. caps are solid this year, color me impressed.

ok even if he had the greatest game of his career, what d were there to stop malkin? Malik? Smaby? the Lightning D should be scored on 100 times a game, and with a good goaltender like smith he saves there bacon, but look at what happens when you let an echl guy in net...

I prefer the Pens to miss as it would increase AO's chances at the Hart while throwing some egg on the Pens.

That said I actually caught myself being a hockey fan instead of a Caps' fan during this 3rd period and rooting for Malkin to do something. He was money from his hit on Mezsaros to the final goal... well except for the 5 on 3 where that whole team was too casual.

This was more of a thread to single out Malkin for being the lone bright spot of a horrid pens team tonight, not to dispute the quality of goaltender or Tampa Bay defense. As was proven until the 3rd period, a horrible team with an ECHL goaltender can dominate the penguins with the way they were playing in the last few months. Malkin decided to take the team on his back and win it pretty much on his own.

Just get back to posting youtube videos and keep the hockey talk to people who are able to be subjective. There are plenty of other team's fans in here that don't have to trash everything Penguins.

I think beating the pens in the playoffs would be far sweeter then any single trophy, maybe even the Cup.

The Pens wouldn't do that just as much as the Wings wouldn't.

I'm a Pens fan so i loved this performance. However, all games like these do is extend the tenure of our hideous coaching staff. Please Michel Therrien, GO AWAY!!!

Yep, that was a Hart winning type of performance.

Well they have to make 7th and that is going to be extremely difficult. 94pts was 7th and 8th last year. The have to go 20-9-0 to get 95. Maybe a little better since Buffalo is racking up the wins as well.

I agree my dream for Caps hoisting the Cup is through Pitt and through Philly... But we Steeler fans just went through a difficult schedule including beating the Ratbirds three times. Now do I wish we played a Pats (w/ Brady) and Indi in the playoffs and beat Dallas in the Superbowl??? Sure. But I'm sure as **** happy with the road just traveled.

On topic... I love me some Malkin. Please trade him.

I'm going to sound like a hater, but it wasn't really a dominating performance. Tampa kind of imploded, and the Pens sort of stepped over the wreckage.

Malkin is a treat to watch though, but unless his teammates help him out more, there are going to be a lot more losses than wins for the Pens the rest of the way. Literally no one else came to play for the Pens except for Malkin and Fleury.
