I think the Leafs are willing to part with pretty much anyone. I'm not too sure about his value... but he was playing quite exceptional at the start of the year before he got injured. I'd be happy to get a 1st for him, although I'd expect it would be a 2nd rounder and a 4th or 5th (similar to Gill last year).
I'll offer a 2nd and a 5th, mainly because we don't have a 4th. And how long is his contract??? And what's his salary? Is he really worth 2 picks?! I think a 2nd + a prospect is good enough.
This thread might have been done. But, what would it take to get this guy to Dallas? Are the leafs even willing to part with this guy?

That said, Van Ryn could be a good option for Dallas. I don't think Dallas would give up a 1st or multiple picks.
Maybe something like a 2nd straight up or Perttu Lindgren and a 3rd/4th.

If Dallas is serious about acquiring a defenseman and Mike Van Ryn becomes their best option, Then they will give up multiple picks. 2nd and 5th is the price that makes most sense to me. We'll see what turns out.

2nd and 5th is fine by me... if his contract is 3 years or more.

If both Kubina and Kaberle are dealt I don't see how Leafs could part with him. He's been solid for the Leafs thus far. Before his injury, he was very good.
He is signed for 1 more year at 2.9, which is a very fair contract.
$3million bucks is not a great contract for a guy that has been so injury prone lately. I like Van Ryn, but he's had a rough couple of years, and is not a $3million dollar defenseman at this point.

He is a $3 million d-man when healthy. At this point he is healthy.

I agree that there's definetely a risk of MVR getting injured again, but when he's healthy he's a legit 2nd pairing guy who can move the puck, and there aren't that many of those guys available.

MVR health bothers me a lot and that fact that he turns into a UFA in 2010 and could just ditch us or ask for bigger dollars bothers me even more.
How does his health bother you? One year he broke his wrist which could have happened to anyone and this year a dirty cheap shot by a hab sent him to the hospital. Again, would have happened to anyone. He is sturdy, just had some bad luck.

I'd be happy with this offer. I also wouldn't mind Sawada or Corostin. They don't have quite the upside as Lindgren but I'd be happy with either of these guys as well.
