I don't think anyone mentioned this, but Ovie is still looking for NHL career goal number 200 tonight. Go OVIE, and LET'S GO CAPS!

I think Ovie would take an empty netter if he had to, just to get it over with. He seems to have a hard time with the milestone goals.

Yea I was hating on flash every chance I got last year so I'm doing the same thing with Fehr hoping he can finish something besides an empty netter or a goal every 35 games or so... Please Eric, make me eat my words.

Fehr is already the best forechecker on the team, IMO.

Carolina was hardly collapsing last year until the last two games or so. The rest of the division, sure.

well, he's on a better pace than Flash was last year, so I think that says a little something about what we might expect in the future.

his high end is a 70/80 point producer.

low end i'd say atleast a 20-20 guy.

i like him to stick either way.

I don't normally listen to anything associated with Leonhardt, but John Walton will be joining Vogs and the tool for the Two Man Advantage pregame thingy at 5:45.

According to TSN Fehr is on a pace to score fewer goals (by 1) and assists (by 5) than Flash had last year. Sorry, couldn't resist the nit-picking.

Agreed. I'm only an occassional watcher of Kings' hockey so I don't post on their boards, but he's getting the best play out of what could be best described as a piecemeal defense from the goalie on out (incl JJ being hurt).

OT: Speaking of JJ I play hockey with his father on friday afternoon. Nice guy.

He's on pace for slightly more goals after getting the empty netter last game. (0.16 per game vs. 0.133 per game.) #43 had 0.266 assists per game vs. Fehr's 0.258 so far. This is with Fehr averaging 1:37 less per game thus far.

There are opportunities and then there are opportunities. With Clark out long-term and Kozlov ailing for the moment, his time to step is now and he's getting a prime spot tonight to do just that.

To the forechecking point brought up earlier, Fehr has to be right at the top in takeaways per minute of ice-time. That's a credit to his hustle, positioning and anticipation. He needs to be more poised with the puck and not try to rush things but that should come with more experience and a better sense of both the pace of the game and what it takes to be successful.

Wasn't Flash benched for Fehr last year in the playoffs?

Also, Flash was getting top 6 minutes for a while last year and looking awful.

If Fehr learns that he's got to work for it he'll be a fine depth player.

Flash made it sound like the Caps want revenge after a earlier season loss to the Kings. Caps come out on fire and beat the Kings 5-2!

You think LA's going to pull the goalie when they're down 6-3?

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Off to the game now, happy game threading!

Agreed. Its why I said in the Brads scratched discussion that Fehr is out-Bradleying Bradley lately and why I said last year that this kid will be an NHLer (which I didn't feel about Flash at the time... crow, table 7 please). He may not score. He probably won't stay on this team if he doesn't. But he'll play somewhere for someone as a 3rd/4th liner with 2nd line duty.

He's getting his shots off right away which was my major problem with him. Still hasn't scored a wrister on a goalie since the Tampa game. But his shots are no longer getting blocked by the defense or losing the shot from holding the puck too long.

Oh **** I forgot. No center ice. I have to watch this **** on FSW with no HD hockey games.

Maybe I'll be lucky and they pipe in the caps' feed with the Kings announcers. Not sure how they do that stuff.

On that note how the heck do they show Lakers in HD but not the Kings?? Same arena. Cameras are there. What the ****?

Did you guys get the game here in LA in HD?

That's what I thought it would be.

I don't like seeing Bradley on a scoring line.

Has it been mentioned that Ersberg is getting the start tonight, per the PreCap podcast from several hours ago?

Good news for the Caps. Quick has been very good lately.
