You know something?

That lineup really isn't very good at all.

How in world are the Oilers up against the cap with a garbage lineup like that?

They have 3M+ in cap space this season.

It is a horrible lineup. Has been all year. I have been pounding that drum for a while. And to think that collection of players has pushed the cap near the ceiling... Granted the D take up a huge chunk of salary, this group of forwards, IMO, is amongst the worst in the game.

At least half of those forwards could be in the AHL right now, and the way Penner is playing, probably more.

I would have to agree with you. Those forwards are absolutely putrid.

At the risk of nitpicking, it's actually 1.936 of cap space this year.

I completely agree. I'm feeling kinda down about the Oilers chances with Visnovsky out long term. He has been our all star on d and close to our best player all year long.

Well STL lost to Detroit in a SO and beat the Preds....can we beat this "basement" dweller?

I think it comes down to whether or not we can do that thing...uhhh whats it called, with the puck in the net...ya that. If we are able to that more then once...or god forbid 3 or 4 times. We just might stand a chance.

I hope MacT shows up tonight, since he is 100% responsible for everything that happens on the ice. Or so I am told, anyways.

Well clearly, it has been, our forwards have scored perhaps the least of any team in the league, out D is our strong point no question. That being said, it wasn't suppose to be that bad, Gags, was a point per game player the last 30 games last year, Cole was suppose to be much better. Nilson, horc, the list goes on.

So, sayign it has been horrible, yes, that is pretty easy, to say on paper it is horrible, well........ I guess....... should have been a lot better.

Smid should be getting Lubo's minutes, not Staios.

That's a mistake that will be exploited by the other team.

This is a game where Big Mac might be an order. Otherwise having Backes and Janssen running their **** all over the ice will be disasterous for the Oilers. Having Potulny on the 4th line is a waste of a spot.

There is no telling which team we'll see tonight. If it's the Oilers' team of the last two games we lose for sure. If it's the team we had before the break that won 5 of 6, we probably score 5 or 6 goals tonight and win.

Sweating the wrong line-up makes for a bad roller coater ride...

To date in the Western Conference 879 points have been earned by 15 teams. The average number of points earned per team is 56.8 for a conference average 50.4 games played.

That shows that the Oilers are about 56.8 - 53 = 3.8 points below the current conference average. Sitting in 9th place with less than a half (.4 of a) game in hand. Tonight the Copper & Blue are playing the team, in the Western Conference, with the least number of accumulated points. Should this 2 game losing slide spiral into a 3 game trend what needs to be done?

If the Oilers lose tonight, statistically, it would be the ideal time to shake the team up, fire the coach, get turned around in enough time, in order to salvage this season.

I was going to crunch some more numbers with a few "what if" scenarios showing the Oil's chances of making the playoffs but, frankly, I'm just to bummed-out right now. I thought of posting a 'Raw-Raw' style rant to get excited about being an Oilers fan, but I just don't seem to care enough anymore.

Hopefully, and even given, that the coaches have lost the dressingroom, with their desperate attempts to blend together unlikely combination, this grouping of players will, man-up, and exact some real pride and grind out a win tonight.

Heaven knows it's hard to overcome coaches who flit about like moths caught in the mantle of a gas light. Such a waste of energy to be played out of position and expected to perform on lines & Power Play groupings which change every week.

the hfoils fanbase is a depressed one lately....only on page two....ouch. have the same dread that seems to lead into most games lately and a team with less points just means more disappointment but not a better chance of winning.

They should give JDD a start tonight, but i guess they want to ride Roli right into the ground. Hopefully the game is decently exciting with both teams needing the 2 pts.

Oilers win 3-2.

Or they stay a streak. This streak probably extends to last year as I remember losing several times while at Soccer last year.

And yet, they are not in the basement. Fancy that.

Our offensive production has improved, we have not relied on the SO for points, and we are in the top half of the league in EV production ratio.

I'll assume the credit for this is only going in one direction...
