I'm glad he's been productive in this playoffs . He's had 7 goals so far... almost as many as Bergenheim had for the Lightning in the postseason a couple of years ago.

Weiss made the right choice for him - he loves his golf - and he wouldn't fit in on that Boston team.

As an aside, I really get the impression that you think I resent Horton for leaving. I really don't. As you said (and as I've said) he made the right decision... and the Panthers made the right decision to move him (we disagree here). I don't resent Horton at all... the same way I don't resent Anthony Stewart.

I resent the team that wasted a historic opportunity in that draft with two very sub-optimal picks. We can argue about how much the team damaged them in their development process, but neither player lived up to their draft status.
wasn't referring to you specifically but there are many who resent horton for his decision (and maybe even use it as evidence of his poor character). glad you agree he made the right choice. and way to go sneaking a stewie reference in one of the guys i've backed who couldn't make it.

bergy had a great playoff but not this good. and horton is now 2 for 2 in terms of delivering in the playoffs. i love bergy but he's not in the area code as nathan horton. i'll reiterate (since you did!), i'll take > ppg playoff production from my #1 overall pick and walk away smiling.

perhaps. if he resigns here, that might buttress your argument.

More power to him, he just wouldn't be the same player here.

As for Horton, meh. He's a good player but we already knew that. He wanted to get out so what's the point of wondering. Playing with Krejci and Lucic definitely makes him look pretty good. Bjugstad has the potential to be as good, and as a centerman, which is more valuable. Oh, and he's 6'6".

I really don't lose any sleep thinking about this trade.

how many guys do you think tallon offered that chance to? i think it was only a select few.

both these guys played the same game here - they've raised their play in the playoffs and they certainly have enjoyed being surrounded by a better cast but the same goes for just about every player in the league. they are thriving in a good situation but there's no reason they could not have done the same here had tallon put together a similar cast.

i sure hope bjugs develops. i agree that having that type of player at C would work out better but that still a ? i'm not losing sleep over horton and campbell, just pointing out that they could have been part of a quicker rebuild here.

and, of course, they would want no part of a return here. they are living their dream, competing for the cup every year in a great hockey city.

No to Horton, yes to Campbell. Plain and simple. Don't want anyone here who doesn't want to be.

Had Tallon built a similar cast? Like he could have built a perennial Cup contender from scratch in 3 years with one of the lowest budgets in the league? LOL, come on dude. Don't think you can stump me with that one.

Like I said, I think Tallon offered that chance to at least a handful of guys. It couldn't have been just Weiss and Horton. Actually he said he asked the same question of everybody and they all responded positively. Horton is the only one who took Tallon's offer(just stating, not hating).

My point about Campbell was just that he's not the caliber of player who can play virtually the same way anywhere. Again, just stating not hating. He's a checker of limited skills who is definitely playing better and hungrier consistently in Boston than he did here. Not like, for example, Crosby, Malkin, Datsyuk, Stamkos, St. Louis, etc. who would play exceptional no matter what team they were on.

Horton and Campbell would not have been part of a quicker rebuild here, because Horton would already be gone. If the Panthers can't even afford to pay Weiss what he wants, do you think they'd be able to pay Horton? Tallon is a very wise GM who made the right call in regards to what to do with Horton.

MR-totally disagree with words on Campbell. The omly thing that changed in his move is the increase on offense points.

He's the same exact player since he came up wearing #44. All guts when everyone else quit. Im sorry you dont remember so, but ill argue this one to my winners dethbed.

Horton? sounds something like this:"..if he ever goes to.a contender..." Yea, and looky what happened. I sure dont blame em.

Hey all, not to interrupt your board, but I'm setting up a Fantrax league (my personal favorite fantasy league site) for any fan of any team. For anyone who takes it seriously. Good luck with your actual hockey season, but if any of you are considering taking on another league or know someone who is interested this is where you can find the league info:

http://forums.dobbersports.com/showthread.php?t=153448

Thanks for your time. I'm letting people know all over the place so PM me if you have interest.

Yotes fan in peace. Thoughts on Fleischmann with $1.5M salary retained for Klesla + Rundblad?

2 things

1st he's our most consistent scoring forward so trading him for 2 D not likely. We'd never score.
2nd Klesla makes @3 and if Rundblad makes @1.5 and we keep 1.5 from Flash the Panthers are on the hook for 6 million vs 4.5million probably not going to happen.

Value probably fair just needs aren't.

rundblad is a bust, dont know enough about klesla. i dont understand why we would want an old defenseman and a bust in rundblad who couldn't make it in ottawa, got traded to yotes, and now cant make it there

big no here

Trade Scenario

Tomas Kopecky

for

David Desharnais

add/replace a prospect or pick boys. Just be honest with your opinion please. The general consensus is that it fills both teams needs.

cheers

why do florida need DD? florida needs grit and kopecky brings it. DD:s deal is also long and horribly overpaid. florida already have center prospects playing wing in the NHL, and DD havent lived up to his deal yet.

"the general concensus is that it fills both teams need", what general concensus? 10 habs fan saying its a good deal doesn't mean it fit both teams needs.

i want kopecky to stay and retire as a panther. he's great on the PK/PP and overall a great guy.

What general consensus? Most on the main board said no, including Panther and Hab fans. It's not a pod deal, especially for us.

Detroit-Florida

Would there be any interest on your side in Mikael Samuelsson?

Cap hit 3 Mil. 1 Year left on the deal.
Previously played well for Detroit/Vancouver/Florida
Was injured most of last year, and is caught in the forward shuffle in Detroit.

Our Fans want Sammy gone to make room for Rookies.
Would you be willing to trade a draft pick (#5-#7) for Sammy?

Would we need to retain Salary? (1Million max)?

Is there room on the Florida roster for him, if he produced?

I think Brassard would like to escape that **** coaching crew Sather hired after chugging a handle.
We have a slew of players and picks, he's got that skill nastiness that would fit perfectly with this group, NYR might take anyone wed be willing to give...

On the Samuelsson thing, I would definitely give up a 5th-7th round pick (assuming that's what the poster meant...a pick in that range) to bring Sammy back here.

He was a good vet the last time he was here. I would love to see what he could do playing with an Huberdeau or a Barkov. He would also probably come in again and help our PP which has been pretty dreadful.

Not sure why anyone would be against such a trade.

5th-7th is what i meant.

Maybe just an agreement that you claim him, if we waive him LOL (He is burying our rookies right now, and we mostly just want his salary gone)

How presomptuous of you to believe the Panthers are so lowly that they should pick up the Red wings' trash to help them.

Liles

If Dreger report is accurate, I would be interested in trading for Liles if Toronto was willing to retain major salary.

Is it just me who believes that Matthias will be the one going away if the team can't turn things around? He holds value, he's young, but man is he frustrating! 1 day I love him and the next 10 days I dont even notice him.
anyone else find this possible/likely?
