Staal: 24, has a cup leading his team in offense, a 48 goal 100 point season to his name. Plays with Samsonov and Ruutu this season.
Spezza: 25, gone to a finals leading playoffs in points, has a couple 90ish point seasons. Plays with Heatley and Alfredsson.
hahaha god your pathetic fuhr you couldnt help but show massive amounts of bias could you.
Who did Staal play with during his 48 goal 100 point season? Stillman, Cole, Williams and Whitney hardly slouches.
Rod Brindamour lead that team to the Stanley Cup his team leading 12 goals, team leading faceoff percentage and time on ice suggest that. Oh yeah and he was the CAPTAIN of the team.

Staal despite scoring at a far slower pace then Spezza makes over a million more a season annually. Spezza has a better plus minus and is better on faceoffs. Staal has only made the playoffs once where his team won the cup not one bad playoff season to show for. Im not sure if that is a plus or minus but at the end of there careers the chances of Staal having a better playoff ppg is not very likely.
Spezza has the higher upside in my opinion. His skill set talent and vision is grossly superior while they both score goals at roughly the same rate.
Depends on what you're looking for.
Want a playmaking center for your top line that consistently puts up points? Take Spezza
Want more of a power center for your top line that brings an underrated two-way game? Take Staal
Personally I take Staal but you can't go wrong with either.
Who do I want? Staal
Who do I think is more gifted offensively? Spezza
Who is an elite playmaking center? Spezza
Who do I want come playoff time? Staal
Who do I think is more difficult to play against? Staal
IMO, Spezza is one of the most gifted centers in the NHL. Staal makes the most of what he has, and is just as good as Spezza.
Spezza is more talented but I just think Staal has a bigger impact throughout the course of a game, so I went with Staal. I think Spezza needs a change of scenery
I pick Spezza, Staal had a great season offensively, then turned into a good, all around PPG player. Spezza is still going through some bumps, but is still improving. I don't see Staal breaking his 45 goals OR 100 point season, I see Spezza having multiple of them both (bias, yes).
