Can the Islanders give us a favor; and ship us.....

Trent Hunter.

This guys always been a solid performer. Has always been one of their better players.

Here's the thing. If Gomez, and any of our big contracts aren't going to be moved than I think Trent Hunter would be a good fit for this club at this stage of the game. It shouldn't take much, as he's making 2 mill. I say put Prucha/Dawes out there, work something around those players.

Hunter brings size, heart-- takes everything to the net. It would be fitting to get him right after a Graves retiring ceremony.

Here's the problem, when was the last time these two teams made a trade together? However, if there is ever a time it can happen, it is this season considering the spread of both teams. One is fighting for the number 1 overall pick while the other is positioning themselves, or trying too, for a play-off spot.

My ranks on what i'd like to see in order:
1.Hunter
2.Tkachuk
3.Antropov

Naslund-Gomez-Hunter
Drury-Dubisnky-Zherdev
Korpikoski-Anisimov-Callahan
Sjostrom-Betts-Orr

Redden-Girardi
Staal-Rozsival
Kalinin-Mara

Lundqvist

What do you guys think?

Why would the Isles deal Hunter? And it shouldn't take much? He's a very good player with a very good contract. I can't see them wanting Prucha or Dawes.

He is not 1st line material. We need an elite sniper (something Naslund no longer is), we can settle for just a sniper. Heart or no heart wouldn't matter.

Guess what, you're not getting an elite sniper without dumping one of our bigger salaries.

Which is why the post states: "If Gomez, and any of our big contracts aren't going to be moved than I think Trent Hunter would be a good fit for this club at this stage of the game."

He's a great player and if he as out of the division maybe it "could" happen. But if Pru and Dawes go anywhere it will not be to a team we play consistently. They're not going to take a chance on them coming back to bite them in the future.

Maybe because they are rebuilding and wouldn't mind young talent along with some draft picks. Prucha has potted 30 goals in his career, followed by another 20+ goal season. Hunter may be good, but he has reached only the 25 goal mark; although having more asissts in his resume.

It's not as far fetched as some of you make it to be.

? Who said Gomez is being traded to the Islanders in this thread? Sharpen up some of the reading skills.

Sorry but no way it would happen.

Kinda shocking to see this many Hunter threads in 1 week. His contract is a steal as he took a discount for extra years to stay on the Island. The Islanders would only be hurting themselves by dealing him for anything other then a proven young star.

Draft picks != a sure thing.

Hunter's value isnt in his goal scoring, although that piece does add to it.

Prucha's value isn't in his offensive talent, but still is a piece of it.

Yes, it's actually quite far-fetched.

Petr Prucha is 3 seasons away from being a 30 goals. He is a guy who in his last 83 games has scored a grand total of 10 goals.

Huh? If he's not scoring, he's not adding anything.

IF the Isles would deal him, alot of teams would be interested and could beat the proverbial Prucha & a pick.

It is that far fetched. Hunter is going to be a guy that the Isles build around. He's only 28 and is making $2 million a year until 2013. The only way to get Hunter would be to overpay for him, and we're not in a position to do that because he doesn't address our greatest need.

Isles have plenty of guys like Prucha. Hunter is a leader, a core kind of guy. Its not going to happen

I'll also add this question:

How many times has Prucha appeared in trade proposals? Now how many times has Hunter?

No one breaks the foundation when rebuilding. Even Fishsticks. That is fantasy.

Hunter is defiitely not an untouchable, but his value to the Isles is more than what most teams would want to give up. he is signed very cheap and for a long time and may become captain in the near future. I would take Prucha only if he was on waivers. Dawes really doesn't interest the Isles I would suppose. They already have way too many guys like Dawes and Prucha.

Dawes doesn't really interest ANYONE, and no one is going to give up anything of value for him or Prucha, but unfortunately some people here can't wrap their heads around that.

These two players carry very little value and no team is going to give up something of value to get either or both of them.

I agree, but if the OP wants Hunter we will take Sanguinetti or Del Zotto!

Hunter is the Islanders' "Captain in Waiting" (once Guerin and Weight depart and Sillinger hangs 'em up) IMHO. I have a hard time seeing the Isles in a real hurry to move him- especially to their most hated rival- certainly not for Prucha.

That said- a "Hunter-type" player (i.e. size, heart, character, decent skill, good shot) would be a great pick up for you guys. The problem is that they're hard to find of course...

The Rangers and Islanders haven't made a deal since 1972 (Ron Stewart). Something tells me that a trade isn't going to happen any time soon.
