Not really sure what a waiver trade is though?
Essentially the Stars will put him on waivers and send him to Hartford I guess "on loan", and then after a period of time the Stars will put him on re-entry waivers at which point the Rangers will claim him for half the cost.

This. Sather brought in Voros to try to replace Avery. He hasn't been even close.

Some of you mentioned Avery to this team may only end in tears. Like playing passive* carebear hockey brings anything else but tears in the first place. Trading for Avery last time brought a spark to the team. What's there to lose to try that out again? Like we're a dangerous contender anyway...

*Yes, Rangers is playing with such a passive strategy that I felt it was necessary to bold it.

I worry about the chemistry of the team being hurt and the togetherness with Avery if he comes back. However, I do see something missing from this team, something to put some passion in their game. Avery brings that passion with skill and agitation, and I think if they bring him into the mix, it will definitely mix things up and possibly push this team, he may piss some players off, but that i think will convert into playing with more of an edge. i think this would help the rangers.

Rissmiller
Voros
Prucha
Are you kidding? Rozsival is borderline underpaid for his performance. This is a contract we would have no problem including in a "real" deal (if we wanted to move it), not a "how badly are you willing to be ****ed in order to unload Avery" deal.

I repeat - only get this punkass if it allows you to unload Wade Redden's contract under favorable terms.

Did'nt realize That the Rangers can get Avery back for 2 million...............so yea Keep Rozi!,haha

I love how people are defending him now, way to go Rozi

Also if you really think about it this team needs some freaking exitment. Avery will not be rushed in. He would go to Hartford. Get his head on straight. He has to realize this time it is his last chance

I also think if this happens it is not the last deal. They would still make a move for a top 6 forward

Well, if true, people get their wish of getting Avery back, and at least it's not for $4 million. I don't know how it will work with the fact that people on the team are known to hate the guy.

This is awesome news to wake up to. He fits a need and he doesnt have much of a cap hit. And this doesnt preclude the Rangers from grabbing some scoring in the offseason. While I love this team, unless we get Kovalchuk or someone of that caliber, I dont see this team winning it all. And even then the chances are remote.

if this is lieu of renney going away, i am dead set against it. no way i want avery coming in and sparking this team to 5 wins only to take the heat of renney. he needs to go.

all this is, is looking at last years team with avery and now looking at this years team without avery. plugging sean back into THIS team does not = success if renneys still here. period.

we need a new start. that means torts or laviolette needs to come in and install sone offensive confidence for this team. renney needs to go.

having said that, i have always been a big avery fan. i happen to think what he did in dallas was not that big of a deal. i could care less about dissing some actress chick who does hockey players. and the whole deal with that fan broad, yuo know what, if you get in a players pace and give him crap, get ready to get it back. grow up and sit the ef down in your seat and keep your hole shut.

now. sean avery WILL HELP THIS TEAM. he brings what we DO NOT HAVE. ATTITUDE. he draws attention. he is not easy to play against and he gets players off their game, if they allow him to. i would welcome sean back in a heartbeat if renney was gone. i would tell him, keep mouth shut off ice. tone it down on the street. eat some humble pie and let this be a lesson to you. keep yer act on the ice and play your guts out and this team will be a better team if he does just that. he will need to make amendswith teammates and be the player he was here last year. if he does that, he will be ok.

again, i want renney gone. more than i want avery here. but sean will help this team. he will give us emotion and energy and passion. we have none of that now. and we need help. bad.

Maybe because he's actually played well for the last month or so? Rozsival for Avery would be the dumbest thing the Rangers can possibly do now. Have you even been watching the games? Who's going to replace his 20+ minutes of ice time? This team would be downright awful if that happened

I would LOVE this.

Avery would mess with chemistry? Do we have much chemistry as it is?

We need scoring? Avery>Voros (granted not by a whole lot).

Why not? This team needs something to spark it and if we are sticking with Renney than I think Avery could do it..

what exactly is the enfatuation with having both lundqvists on this team? i mean joel is another 4th liner who is in and out of dallas' lineup. why the heck do we need him here? geeezzz..

When Avery's on the top of his game, Avery >>>> Voros. The difference is Avery is a ******* and people like Valliquette hate him and it seems that Dubinsky doesn't like him.

I am one of the only people that thinks the team needs a top 6 AND a 3rd line C so Dubinsky or Drury can move permaneltly to the Wing

For example if They make this Avery Deal they could also say to Dallas no one else will do this and take the chance on him...............Then make them take Salary we don't want like Prucha and Rissmiller for Lundqvist..

At that time I am not sure how people don't think this would work

Avery Gomez Naslund (rather have a top 6 traded for instead of Avery)
Dubinsky, Drury, Zherdev ( I think they can produce well if kept together )
Korpikoski, Lundqvist, Callahan ( great defensive line for the playoffs)
Sjostrom, Betts, Orr, Voros

Sather doesn't usually follow the team around the country for away games.

Hes def worth 1.9 mill. This team has no chemistry so theres no worry of messing that up. Avery is a very good hockey player when he's playing the game. He's fast , has a great shot, pretty good passer. He may never see the NHL this season, but than again I dont know how long the Rangers would want him in Hartford

If Sathers been on the phones trying to land a top 6 scoring winger ala Frolov, GMs are asking for players that will HURT giving up. Count on it.

Avery could be the insurance for losing Callahan, Korpikoski, Dubinski etc.
