I just read that. It's interesting that 52 percent of respondents indicated Crosby was the biggest on-ice complainer. It must not be just fan observation.

Stars Player's Respond

Turco with the funniest, IMO:

Quote:
Question: Which goalie would make the best forward or defeseman?

Answer: Marty Turco won easily, with 54 percent of the vote.
"From what I know now, I'd be one good defenseman," Turco said. "I'd be blocking shots, fighting for the puck, slashing and getting away with it. I'd be free to do whatever I want with the puck all over the ice. But these guys skate too good. I'd have no chance catching them. I'd need a year to get used to it."
I always hate when people say that I'll move to Canada if "X" is elected President ..... but I'd move to Canada if Mike Modano was the President of the United States.

Quote:
Question: Which player would make the best president or prime minister?

Answer: Jarome Iginla got eight percent of the vote, the most in a tightly contested category. Modano earned two percent of the vote, tying a handful of players including Sean Avery.
"Maybe my experience helped there," Modano said. "I've been around long enough to deal with general managers and different teammates and learn how an organization works. That helps you as a president."
What's the first thing President Modano would do if he were sworn in today? "I'd end the stimulus package."
By calling them out? I'm the best player on the team. I don't belong on a lower line. Ribeiro makes too much money. Dallas didn't need Richards with me. Ott's stupid with his on ice crap. Avery's stupider.

I think he's confused the job of the President with someone who just whines incessantly.

Back up those exaggerations with quotes.
(Other than the Ott and Avery Boston game quote, which was absolutely true by the way)

He never said those words, and I probably should have clarified. I was inferring what he meant on his numerous rants.

It's common knowledge that he complained about 3rd line duty, his place on the team after Ribeiro's new contract, and his place on the team after Richards was acquired.

We've talked about it more than enough, and the only reason I brought it up is because he characterized himself as a person that can "deal" with teammates.

Unless he meant he knew how to treat them poorly or alienate them, it was worth pointing out.

Ribeiro signing that contract was probably one of the best moments of his professional career. Did he really need Modano raining on his parade?

Richards was already dealing with the difficulty of leaving a team and teammate he's played forever with. Now it’s okay for the franchise player to draw negative attention to the situation?

You have an axe to grind, and it's not proportional to what Modano's actually said.

He's well-respected by his teammates. No one feels alienated by Modano.

If Modano were to become POTUS, would he really be the first 'Whiner in Chief?' No. I can recall three in the last 30 years, and Modano would have a much cooler sweater to wear for the cold of D.C.

You don't know any better than I do what's going on in the Stars dressing room.

I would say they like him as well, but that doesn't make what he does OK. Any other player that says the things he does in the media wouldn't get a free pass. Morrow finally came out and defended teammates after Modano comments. It's obviously somewhat of an issue.

I don't have an axe to grind at all. I have said numerous times that I enjoy Modano being on the team, and I can't recall joining in on the constant bashing of his play everyone enjoys. He does some things on the ice that annoy me, but I'd rather he be out there than not.

My issue is with older players and complaining. Have some dignity on your way out, and for god sakes don't drag your teammates into your gripes. Everyone seems to think that they are entitled to whatever they want in life and show little respect to strangers let alone the people the work/live with on a daily basis.
