I'm a Caps fan too and any poll for the Hart has to have Malkin and Crosby on it...

Do you really think that they won't get their own fair share of votes? of course they will... will they win it... not sure, depends on how they play down they stretch...

please close this poll... it's stupid without the NHL's poster boy and the NHL's points leader!

Chara deserves it more than any of the scrubs on that list

I would give it to OV. Malkin and Crosby would both be in the top 5 for it.

Obviously Malkin and Sidney are having great seasons, but how often is it that a team that isnt in the playoffs has the Hart winner?

True, but hopefully the Pens will be there! Cross your fingers for us, we need all the help we can get!

It's clearly Andrei Markov.

Hab fan here and Markov clearly doesn't. On the other hand there's is one trophy that he should be considered in the running for-Norris. At least in the top 5 position.

I voted Ovechkin. At least to me, he is clearly the most valuable player to his team in the entire league.

I also have no problem with leaving Malkin and Crosby off of the list, as great as Malkin is doing, the Pens are not a playoff team right now, but, if Malkin or Crosby put the Pens on their back and carry them to the playoffs, they would have to be given consideration.

I do have a problem with Markov being on the list, Chara is a better candidate than Markov. I would have no problem with Markov as a finalist for the Norris, I just don't think he deserves consideration for MVP.

I voted for Thornton

Just because he won't be a finalist

Good call. Has anyone really been more valuable to his team than this guy? Check out the rest of that Columbus roster.

Four other goalie's have played for the Jackets this year. Combined they are 5-11-3 with a goals against of 3.63. Mason is 19-12-2 with a 2.09 GA. He also leads the league in shutouts with 7.

Now, now... I don't think voters will be able to resist that spectacular +8 rating.

Markov for MVP!

if the pens make the playoffs malkin will win the hart. he's 12 pts ahead of ovechkin, a very significant margin, and ovechkin doesn't have to overcome a terrible coach. the fact is malkin has played at a level above everyone else this year. washington's finally a great team but we still have to hear how ovechkin has no help and the pens are loaded? seriously?

I did not include Crosby nor Malkin.

Penguins are 10th in East, and that team is loaded.

The fact Crosby and Malkin play on the same team reduces both.

Sorry.
So by that logic would Datskyk be disqualified because he playes on one of the most "loaded" teams in the nhl?

I'm a Caps fan.

And this poll isn't worth voting in without Malkin at the least included.

As of right now, even with the Pens out of the race, Malkin would be a top 5 option for me.

Hear, hear... A poll asking who people think the 2008-09 MVP is that doesn't include Evgeni Malkin is trolling to start with.

I'm sorry I cannot vote on this poll. Markov is there but the leading scorer and the 2nd leading scorer aren't? Look, I know each will hurt each other's chances with the voting being split down the middle (see Orr and Espo) but you have these guys off this list and Markov and Thomas on it? I don't get it.

Anyways, here's my pick: Malkin, Crosby or Ovy will win it. 30 games is a long ways to go, but one of them will do it.

Guys, guys remember this is HF.

Crosby sucks and Malkin is pretty good but he has Crosby which negates his talent, even though Crosby sucks?

Now with that being said, it's Ovechkin for me right now and I don't really think it's all that close.

Only 2 people have won the Hart with 10 or more points less then the Art Ross winner in the past 15 years. (Goalies excluded)

Chris Pronger in 99-00
And
Sergei Fedorov in 93-94
