Koivu...overall points

Currently he is ranked 10th on Canadians all-time list.

He is about 140-145 points away from Geffrion and about 155-160 away from Shutt. Lemaire ended up with 835 points.

If he signs a three year deal with the Habs, he could possibly catch Geffrion and possibly even Shutt ending his career 8th on the all-time points list for the Habs.

Lets hope he can win a Cup. Longest serving Captain with no Cup...

Oh noes, someone hail the Koivu bash train in the media and get him outta town before he catches any more legends.

On a serious note, I hope he goes as high as possible. One of the most deserving players to not win a cup yet or even make it to the conference finals.

you guys think he could end up at the hall of fame even if he doesn't win a cup?

I think there is an off chance, the Habs might retire his jersey but it won't probably be for a while.

As much as I admire Saku, he won't be voted into the HOF because the stats aren't there. Having his number retired in Montréal is another matter, and I don't see why not.

HHOF seems unlikely. Jersey retirement should be a slam dunk if he finishes his career in Montreal.

I don't think so. As much as I'd love to see the 11 go up, I'd be surprised it happens unless he gets a Cup.

Top ten all-time Habs scorers.
Longest serving captain in Habs history.
Survived cancer.

Retire the number.

Why are you guys so obsessed with Koivu? He doesn't even speak French! He'd pass FRANCOPHONE legends like Geoffrion, and doesn't even care to learn our language... he's not a true captain...

*****sorry I think Michel Villeneuve hacked into my account****

A Cup should be a slam dunk if Koivu finishes his career in Montreal.

But seriously, I think that's a meaningless criterion anymore. If Henri Richard or whoever had played on the teams that Koivu has, he would have won zero Cups too. Times, sadly, have changed. Anyway, we'll need more ceremonies after the current batch, and Koivu will give the team a good enough reason for one.

If koivu retires here, he should get his number retired, winning a cup seals the deal. HOF, I think it's extremely unlikely even if he wins a cup, a cup and a conn smyth and there's a possibility.
