Sorta kills the idea of Satan being moved.

Unless they are upping their depth in preperation for his departure..

But I agree, it's not likely Satan gets moved at this point. Kypreos on SportsNet did mention that he is hearing Satan is still in play though.

Great deal for the Caps. They have made some seriously nice pick ups all things considered.

Very nice return for the Caps. Grier? Well, he kills penalties and... well, he kills penalties. His offense is disappointing, but he is a good team guy, a leader, a high-energy player and he will hit. His hockey sense has not impressed many in DC, though.

Apparently the Caps hadn't even told him yet when reporters were asking him what he thought about being a member of the Sabres.

Overpayment based on what? Grier is a proven NHL player and still very much in his prime. Klepis is a first round draft pick. Big deal.

Shrewd deal for a rebuilding Caps team, but likewise, great addition for the Sabres, who are looking to make the playoffs, not 2010.

Klepis was one of the many forwards in our system. Grier helps on the PK now Brown has gone, provide's muscle and seems like a good guy. his also a veteran so he can help our young guys.

I like it from a Caps perspective. Buffalo also got a great proven player in Grier. He puts 100% effort everygame and should be a great addition and help Buffalo make the playoffs. The only negative is that he has hands of stone but other then that he is a very good player.

Regier had mentioned a few weeks ago he was trying to sign Klepsis. Maybe the kid was asking for the rookie max.

Looks like a decent trade for both teams.

Who knows whether this kid wanted to come over and play in North America, so Buffalo did a good job of adding a gritty player as they try to take the 8th playoff spot.

For Washington they add another young asset and lower the payroll some more.

Greir is a role player, they usually aren't able to grab first round picks who aren't busts

It's almost the same thing as last year when the sens traded Kleipis for Varada, Grier for Varada even trade.

Was Kleipis on a line with Fleichman(Sp?) at the WJC's? I seem to recall them playing together at some point

It might be, because Klepis has a phobia for North America. He may have to be signed by June. Good luck with that McPhee.

He'll get it, or near enough. The Caps were saying yesterday that they fully realize that the players they dealt make less than what the Caps will be shelling out for unsigned players this summer, in rookie contracts and bonuses. They are prepared for the size of the contracts for these kids. Grier for Klepis is a trade that will see the Caps take on salary, and they realize that.

The full trade was Varada and a 5th rounder for Klepis. So, even assuming Varada = Grier, Ottawa made a better trade....
