Thoughts on Krahn

Dallas just called up Brent Krahn while sending Tobias Stephan to the minors.

Over on the Stars board we're expecting Turco to keep starting every game anyways, but should Krahn actually suit up for a game, what can we expect?

What did the Flames see in him to draft him so early, and why'd they give up on him?

Thanks!

I wish him good luck. I wouldn't say the Flames gave up on him. He has had injuries, rehabs, and he was just past on the depth chart.

The guy has the worst luck here is hoping it has changed for the better.

He's really big, takes up a lot of net.

The last time I got a look at him was when he played with the Hitmen, back in the early 2000's. That's all I remember, he was really, really big.

The guy has terrible luck, he's always injured.

He's blown out the same knee three times I believe, which is why Sutter just lost patience with him, and let him go in order to relieve the log-jam of goaltenders. Otherwise, he's a big-body goaltender who plays positionally, ala Giguere.

Good to hear. I always like Krahn. Hope he gets a chance to get into a game. He's never given up and it looks like it has payed off for him.

I hope Krahn gets a chance... he's paid his dues and had the ability IMO... I honestly believe the kid would have been an NHL had he not had so many injury troubles

Completely agree. Everytime he got close he would get injured again.

peple forget that 2 seasons ago, he was the number 1 down in QC and outplayed McE. It was actually krahn and not McE who was pencilled in as the backup last year but then he got hurt.

Coming out of junior, there was a reason he was picked high. He was so big, but at the same time had the athleticism of a guy who was 5-10. Unforunately, having that athleticism on that frame is what lead to the injury problems.

I always rooted for Brett Krahn, I loved watching him back when he was with the hitmen, i was so pumped the Flames actually drafted him. He seemed like the long term solution, But unfortunately it never worked out. I hope he starts soon, and gets to play in the NHL.

Thanks for the info, I hope he gets to see at least SOME action with Dallas before being sent down, if at all. Maybe he'll be up the rest of the season, it really doesn't matter considering Tippett's started Turco in all but 3 games this year.

But I'm sure you guys know all about riding the same goalie, I think Kipper's the only one with more GP than Turco anyways.

He really has had the worst luck when it comes in staying healthy. The best of luck to Brent Krahn in Dallas. I hope it works out for him.

So basically Stephan was sent down to get some playing time. Makes sense. Hope Krahn can get into a game. He deserves it.

He's in net in relief of Turco. Congrats to him

Cause he suffered a major knee injury about every 2 years in our system.

He blew his knee out soon after the Flames drafted him and he was never really the same. Every time he made some progress he'd get re-injured. Like others here have noted the guy just seems to be cursed.
