Capitals G Johnson To Have Hip Surgery; Out 6-8 Weeks

TSN ARTICLE

what're the options?

I'd keep Varmalov/Neuvrith simmering down in the minors where they can get more experience...

So whose available and who would be best? off the top of my head (in no particular order)

-Gerber
-Legace
-Sanford
-???

McPhee has already said the Caps are not interested in any goalies beyond what they already have. He said Neuvirth will get a game soon. Varlamov is coming off an injury, but has 2 wins already against good teams.

I think they will rotate the three AHL goalies thru the backup seat with the most active player in the AHL getting the callup to play one.

Caps won't be acquiring a veteran backup.

caps are fine just standing pat, let the kids play.

Varlamov has to prove he can stay healthy.

We have all seen this coming. To those that worry that we are thin at the backup position heading into the end of the year: you should also be upset that we didn't get Johnny in surgery months ago. I saw two games where he was laying on the ice and could barely get up months ago. It was described as extremely painful. And yet no one knew what it was, and still dont. He needed to be looked at in November.
