What do we do next?

Supposedly, Poile is sounding like he isn't done yet. Do we get that faceoff winning center that we need or do we get that crease clearer? Or is more scoring help on the way?

I voted bruiser. I think it's our most pressing need a long with a faceoff winner. But I think faceoff's are very team oriented and more effort by the support forwards (and Dman) could result in a much more favorable %. Crease clearing is something we need though. I'd love to see what Arkhi could bring home. He's rather expendable now that Zholtok is here.

I voted crease-clearer as well, Sutton may be the final piece to solidify our playoff chances and nail St. Louis to the outside.

I picked a bruiser. While it would be nice to get someone that could win a faceoff, a defensive Dman seems to be our biggest weakness. I think that Poile would go after that unless there is an explosive scorer that he could get for little.

I voted for the Odelien type... I don't see us getting a big bruiser without overpaying and that doesn't fit Poile's profile.

I voted crease clearer but I'd wouldn't mind going to battle with the guys we have now.

I don't think Boughner was much of a crease clearer, he could hit, but he wasn't going to manhandle anyone down low.

bruiser, and i agree...boughner's best days are behind him(as evidenced right now.) i wouldn't be surprised if this was the team we went with...but i wouldn't be surprised if we picked up one more d-man, as well.

I don't know if we make another deal, perhaps too many trades in a short time could mess up team chemistry.

I think we will see at least one more trade before tomorrow's deadline. I really think that a crease clearing defenseman aka "a bruiser" will be necessary to make it into the playoffs. We can't afford to lose anyone else to injury....

I hope we get a center that can win the draws. I would take Daze in a heart beat.

daze plays left wing, not center.

for what it's worth, atlanta just acquired AHL stay-at-home d-man Kyle Rossiter, and dealt center Kamil Piros. Could they be losing a stay-at-home d-man(sutton+) and acquiring a center(arkhipov)?

I know he plays left. Sorry i wrote it wrong. I would like Daze but at the same time would like a centre that can win the draws.

I wouldn't take Daze if handed up on a silver platter and I don't think Poile/Trotz would either. For such a huge guy, he's not physical at all. He's not very good on D either. There's reason the fans there call him Daisy.

For what I hear, we are still going hard after another a defenseman.

What should we do vs. what Poile will likely do seem to be very different things I think. Like most of you, I think our biggest need is for a bruising defenseman (or even a bruising forward) who can clear the crease and otherwise be nasty during the playoffs.

But I fear that's going to be too expensive to trade for in this market.

How ironic that it's probably easier to pick up a scorer right now than a stay-at-home defenseman? So if we do make a trade, I wouldn't be shocked if we grabbed another forward with a bit of a scoring touch as I think you can never have too many people who can score....and if we can't clear the crease, then we better be able to put some points on the board.

After all, allowing Pittsburgh to score four goals is only acceptible when we score nine. :p

Well, several teams around us have made moves. L.A. picked up Anson Carter, Calgary picked up Marcus Nilson, and Dallas recieved Chris Therien. 3 of the 4 teams were are legitimately fighting for made serious moves today. Nothing massive, but smart pickups that have the ability to propel each team into the playoffs. I wonder if this makes Poile any more likely to make the moves.

I wonder what this makes St. Louis do? Do they counter LA/Calgary or go with what they have? And does that make Poile more likely to make a trade, to counter any potential St. Louis moves?

And what is Vancouver going to do now if Bastarduzzi gets suspended (which I think he should, cheap ******* )? Will they get someone to fill his role or go with a call up for their battle for the division title (or longer depending...)?

I don’t know what Poile is going to do. I wouldn’t be surprised whether we made a trade or not. But if we do, I think it would be for a big defenseman.

Oh, and Colorado picked up Barnaby today from NYR.

A lot happened in the last 24 hours that could force teams into trades they maybe weren’t going to make in the first place!

I guess we can't land Chris Gratton since he and Vaananen have been traded to the Avs from Phoenix.

Oh yeah, what do you think of Tommy Salo going to the Avs? Geez, they are really stocking up.....
