Thoughts on Plekanec?

I see he is not doing to good in the offensive end but how does his defensive game look?
Do you think he will bounce back offensively?

Leave him far away from Kovalev ! Let him play with some kids with energy like Pacioretty and D'agostini.

A.Kost and Pleks seasons are just ruined by the "artiste" !

I really like the player, but he's having a horrible season and can't seem to find his wings.. If anything I expect him to be traded before everyone else on the team. Hopefully he does something this season before the play-off start!

Right now I think there's no point on trading Plekanec. His value is pretty low. And from here, there's only one way but up for him. He's play is pretty poor but he's just part of a long list of underachiever.

I'm confident that he will bounce back, and it will come sooner if Kovalev is trade away.

Anyway, we don't have to many center right now and Plekanec will be cheap to sign this summer.

He will bounce back, he'a a good player capable of 60+ pts per season.

He's great on the PK but currently having major confidence issues - he's a keeper as he's going to be a cheap contract.

Put a couple of "boys" around him, and he will be fine.

yeah I heard he messed up price and Obyrne as well ... would have been nice to have two career years back to back at 35 and 36 years old ... not the way it always works though.

I'm really frustrated with his play. He lost that fire that made him a good player. He's afraid to battle for the pucks and to get scoring opportunities and he's also scared in his own zone behind the net. He's not moving his feets in the offensive zone...two years ago he was the one telling Kovy to move his feets...

Carbo tries a lot of stuff, even the good old Pleks/Higgins but it seem nothing works. His size is really a big factor now that he lost that speed and grit and he gets manhandled in every single zone. Hopefully he will turn it around because Saku can't carry this team alone.

I'm sick and tired of watching him play.

I'm tired of trying to find out why he doesn't seem to create anything decent with the puck.

I'll just watch him play and expect nothing from his shifts, that way I wont feel dissapointed.

Same goes for 92% of the team.

I still think Plekanec has HUGE potential, and see him as a ppg player in the future. He does give a constant effort, but I think the players around him just aren't suited for his style. What he needs is speedy wingers, like 2 years ago with Higgins and A. Kostistyn. The way I remember them playing is pretty much North/South with a lot of speed and great passing, which not every defense can handle. Right now he's doing a lot more dumping and battling along the boards, but what good does that serve when there's no one in front of the net to pass the puck to?

I think he's a very smart player, but is in a slump right now, as is the entire team. I can not imagine him sucking like this for much longer, he doesn't look like the type of guy that just says who cares, cashes his check and goes home. Imo the combination of smart player and constant effort, will make him a very complete player in the future. Just not this season, and not with Kovalev.

I hope we can lock him up long term at a cheap price because of this. ~3mil per for 4 years.

This is such nonsense. So it's Kovy's fault that Pleks has about half as many points as Kovy? No forward has more assists than Kovy, he has double the amount as Pleks. Shouldn't a player entering his prime need to be responsible for his own poor play?

kovy is playing on every PP - not Plekanec.

Plekanec could play better, but playing with Kovy THIS year, doesn't help at all.

Instead of breaking out he is having a horrible year. Next year will be huge in determining what kind of career he will have. Last year he looked like a first line centerman. This year he looks like an undersized third liner.

For a second liner center... it is sad...

Enough said !!

The softest player on the Habs by far. The only guy on the team who, when he goes into the boards with another player, is 100% guaranteed not going to attempt a hit.

I can barely bring myself to throw a hit with him in NHL 09, it feels so wrong.
